I am getting increasingly sad about how big the number is getting. 32 today!!!!!!!!
So for my birthday post today I decided to take a look at who managed to win an Oscar at the age of 32!
Helen Hayes (The Sin of Madelyn Claudet)
Jane Wyman (Johnny Belinda)
Diane Keaton (Annie Hall)
James Stewart (The Philadelphia Story)
Daniel Day-Lewis (My Left Foot)
Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas)
Van Heflin (Johnny Eager)
Directors
Norman Taurog (Skippy)
Damien Chazelle (La La Land)
Something I found rather interesting when it came to putting this post together was that the majority of Oscar winners were a lot older particularly when it came to the male categories. Also in terms of the films above I have actually only watched one of them and it has to be one of my all time favourites*! Maybe I should make it a task to find and watch the rest of them over the next year.
Anyway HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
*La La Land
A very tough list to put together as it is really hard to narrow it down to 25 performances. I have somehow managed and the order could so easily be interchangeable between different performance types. But here are the 25 male performances that impressed me the most in films from 2018 that I managed to watch over the course of the year.
Take a look at who made the final list . . .
Here is the full list of the Oscar winners for 2018! Not a massive amount of surprises especially on the acting front, but I am so happy with The Shape of Water taking Best Picture!

Call Me by Your Name
Darkest Hour
Dunkirk
Get Out
Lady Bird
Phantom Thread
The Post
The Shape of Water
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
The top award for any actor as they take on the leading role, a very strong year which is evident when you look at the nominees!
Have a little look at the five actors nominated in the leading role . . .
Again this year nine films have been nominated for the top award of Best Picture, always creating good talking points around film as people can often never understand why some were nominated and then go onto win. I think this year is actually pretty strong and a decent range, but I will get more into each individual film.
Let’s have one last look at each of the films that have been nominated . . .

In 1950s London we see how dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock whose life is turned around when he meets Alma a young woman who quickly becomes his muse and lover.

I think this year could well be a struggle to watch all of the films in time for the Oscar ceremony, here we have the films nomiated this year!

Here are the nomatinions for the BAFTA awards for 2017 in film with the ceremony taking place 18th February 2018!

I do always like that we get a more British feel to this one, and yes Paddington 2 and Hugh Grant has a lot of love! Which personally I am very happy about! I will do my predictions closer to the time and when we actually have all of the films out in the UK!
NEW HOST – Joanna Lumley will be hosting this year after Stephen Fry announced a few days ago that he was stepping down!
