2020 is the 15th anniversary of the BAFTA having the Rising Star Award which is voted for by the public. Starting in 2006 known as the Orange Rising Star Award and then since 2013 the EE Rising Star Award, this is due to sponsorship and pretty much helps the award with publicity and getting the public involved in the voting for the winner.
Over the years as I have become more and more obsessed with films I know more about the nominees which in all honesty makes me feel very special and at times very geeky. Which I personally love and am very proud of, I felt coming up to the 15th year it was very important to take a look back at not only the winners from each year but the other nominees as well. The list is very impressive and it feels as though someone at BAFTA can certainly pick out rising stars in the best possible way, the nominees are chosen regardless of gender, nationality and whether they have made a breakthrough in television, film or both.
The world becomes a very different place with most of the mutants and humans destroyed after a fight of spices with very powerful man-made creations. So Wolverine must travel back in time to stop one key event which will help save the future.
Bliss Cavender (Page) finds herself stuck doing things she doesn’t want to but finds a release when she gets into a roller derby team.
As these awards are voted for my the public I think it is pretty easy to guess who is going to win in each category. This year was dominated by The Twilight Saga, which I am pretty sure it has been for the last couple of years now.
The latest blogathon event around the film-blogging world is ‘A Life in Movies’ this quite simply means I have picked a film from each since I was born. That year being 1987. The approach I have taken to this post is to document the films which have meant something to me. Mainly from that time (although the first couple of years will be that I watched them when old enough to remember).
I always enjoy doing blog posts like this one as it always lets you take a trip down memory lane when it comes to certain films. Also the thought of then posting them the same day as many other blogs and then having the chance to compare and see if they have chosen any of the same films in their list as well.
Most of the films in my list consist of my most watched films ever. Mainly because of over watching as a child and not being able to pass the film over if it is on TV now. So here goes my life in movies . . .
Daniel Craig has been confirmed as Mikael Bromkvist in the Hollywood version of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and now the attention will be turning to who will play the part of Lisabeth Salander! And this is exactly what this blog post is going to have a look into, who has already been linked with the part and who would be the best choice. All of the actresses who have been linked with the role are young and have quite a lot of critical acclaim towards them. However, for each actress that I will be looking at for the role none of them have ever played a character anything like Salander. I’m not saying that Salander is common by no means, she is a very complex character tough, rather kick ass and has an attitude. When you see the actresses considered for the role you will understand that they have not done that type of role which makes this all so much more difficult to try and imagine them being a very strong woman. Who has to endure a lot but then gets to have her revenge as well. It is going to be a very difficult and challenging role for whoever is lucky enough to get the part!
Noomi Rapace who took on the task of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish version’s of the triology has ruled herself out of this film stating that she is quite simply done with the character. Understandable really as she won’t have enough ‘star power’ for a mainstream film which will attract the audiences.

With one week to go until the release of Inception, last night at the cinema I saw for the first time a second trailer for the film. Which I think is much better than the first trailer and makes me want to see the film even more. It really does look like such an interesting concept and some brilliant effects.

Just come across the poster for Ellen Page’s next starring role. In Drew Barrymore’s Whip It, which is about a small town misfit who deals with her small town misery after discovering a roller derby league nearby.
