Oscars 2015 – Best Actress

This is where it gets a little disappointing as I have only seen three out of the five nominated performances for this category. I don’t even remember hearing about ‘Two Days, One Night’ when that was released back in the summer in the UK. We are waiting for ‘Still Alice’ to be released which comes out in March sometime. So I will only be able to offer my thoughts on the other three nominees and look forward to seeing ‘Still Alice’ when it is released as well as trying to catch ‘Two Days, One Night’. Although you will probably know that only one actress is getting talked about when it comes to this category!

BAFTA 2015 – Nominations

The nominations for the 2015 BAFTA awards have been announced this morning and i have to say I am pretty impressed with the choices. Some are probably a little bit of a shock but we must remember that a slight bias towards British actors and actresses is often shown with the BAFTAs not a bad thing in my opinion. Just showing that they appreciate our own talent. So far I have seen nearly all of the films, just a couple to catch up with. They come out over the next couple of weeks as well!

Golden Globe Nominations 2015

It’s getting to that time of year when all the more serious films come out ready for awards season, well the Golden Globe nominations for 2015 are out. Having a look at the lists only about half of the films have hit the cinema in the UK so far. But I have seen quite a few of the trailers for the other films as well. So at least it gives an idea of which ones to look out for and head to see. Usually these are pretty good predictors for who will be nominated at the Oscars as well.

The Golden Globes are usually good to watch and more relaxed than the Academy Awards. Probably a few surprises in these nominations and some quite big films missing out!

I have decided to put a * next to the films I have already seen!

Best Motion Picture – Drama
Boyhood*
Foxcatcher
The Imitation Game*
Selma
The Theory of Everything
