“You’ll have bad times, but it’ll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren’t paying attention to.”

I think that is a very true thing, you are going to have bad times and quite often they all seem to come at once with no sign of anything good. I think something that can be done is to simply look back at the photos you have taken on your mobile phone, that has to have something that will make you smile (although could make you even more sad for a few moments) but it should help you that yes things are bad, but they have been good as well. I felt like well nearly all of 2015 was a bad time particularly from September to December as everything went wrong, one thing after another. No light was at the end of the tunnel and I have decided to try and change my attitude for 2016 to not caring as much about the little annoying things that don’t really mean anything, so I am hoping that is going to be possible. With a few different tasks to really keep me from going absolutely crazy I guess!

Vuelio – Film Blogs – UK Top 10

vueliotop10badge2016_zpsyelvyt99

I received a great email yesterday from Vuelio saying that I had made the top 10 in the list they put together of the most influential Film Blogs in the UK! Very proud and honoured to make a top 10 list with some fantastic other blogs which I have followed for some time.

Once again a massive thanks to Vuelio for recognising Let’s Go To The Movies as 10th spot in the list!

Cineworld Secret Screening 5 – Possible Films

We have a very fast turn around from the 4th Secret Screening which was the very disappointing ‘In the Heart of the Sea’ which was only in December 2015. We have the next Secret Screening all set for Saturday 6th February 2016. I like the Saturday night approach such a great idea!

When booking the tickets you are told 120 minutes for the running time.

Zoolander 2 was the first talked about as being for this screening but it has previews on the same day so that rules that film out!

I haven’t seen any clues released from Cineworld this time . . .

The 7 Worst People at the Cinema

In the last couple of weeks I had my worst ever cinema going experience. Two men sat behind me were incredibly rude, it all started with stupidly copying everything in the adverts. I was just hoping that it would stop for the film, unfortunately not. They kept talking and laughing at things that were not funny (the film was Room for gods sake) as well as constantly kicking the back of my seat and the one next to me. I was alone so did not want to say anything incase it made it all worse and caused a scene in the screen. Massive thanks to Cineworld though for the gift they sent me because of this!

From that it got me thinking about the worst people you come up against when going to the cinema. You know the people you don’t actually understand why they even bothered to come into a dark room and watch a film when they are clearly not even interested a tiny bit in what they are watching.

2016 Blogging Goals

This isn’t going to be anything too crazy or unachievable and something to really just remind myself to keep it all going!

  • Keep up reviewing each and every film that I see at the cinema
  • Try and break my 66 film record (set in 2015) at the cinema
  • Keep reviewing each and every show I see at the theatre
  • Be more adventurous on Netflix
  • Watch the DVDs/Blu-Ray that I still haven’t watched (and even seen the film)
  • Making lists of film related topics
  • The “life” blog posts which link to film
  • Really promote my blog in voting for 2016 UK Blog Awards (opens tomorrow)
  • Experience more old films
  • Work my way through different lists of “great” films

Anything else you would like to see me Blog about in terms of Film and/or Theatre on Let’s Go To The Movies in 2016?

7 Films for New Year’s Eve

As 2015 is coming to a close and we are about to start 2016 I thought the perfect way to do that was to take a look back in the film world at films which have fantastic New Year’s Eve scenes or moments. Might be a little bit strange considering I am not really a very big fan of New Year in all honesty and don’t have any plans myself for tonight. It probably doesn’t help that 2015 has been a truly awful year for me, but the less said about that the better. So what better way than to disappear into the world of film and see characters have some great and maybe interesting New Year’s Eve moments?

I do enjoy a good rendition of Auld Lang Syne though in all honesty and you will see that by some of the choices below!

7 Films that surprised me in 2015

Probably the best feeling is when your not really sure about going to see a film and you end up enjoying it. You find it to be a lot more insightful than you first thought and leave the cinema feeling glad that you decided to see that film that maybe didn’t have the best trailer going, or the story you thought would be predictable. I think it’s important to log which films leave you feeling like this, as when you see one you hate you can remember the element of surprise to keep you going!

7 Films that disappointed me in 2015

One of the worst things about watching a lot of films has to be when your really looking forward to one. It has a lot of hype around it, it features one of your favourite actors, you like the sound of the story. You rush to see it at the cinema when it’s released and when it starts you are expecting a lot (probably the first problem) and in the end you are left feeling disappointed. Sometimes though even a little bit of hope for some films is too much and again you are disappointed as the credits roll.

London Premiere – Star Wars: The Force Awakens

On Wednesday I just so happened to have a trip down to London planned to see A Christmas Carol. This had been planned since the end of September and I had no idea that it was going to be on the same day as the European Premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I have never been the biggest Star Wars fan (although that has started to change). But I was still very excited about it going on in Leicester Square at the same time I was going to be down. Luckily I was tweeting about it on the train heading into London and someone told me wristbands were being handed out inside the Odeon until 12pm. That was rather good timing as my train got in about 11am.
