7 Films that surprised me in 2016

Before I get into my top 10 best and worst films of 2016 I thought I would put together this list of films which surprised me in 2016, but not quite enough to make it onto the top 10 list. It is nice to be surprised by a film when you head to the cinema that is for sure!

Here you can see the films that I caught at the cinema during 2016!

Cineworld: Wristband!

Quite recently I saw something on Twitter about Cineworld doing wristbands with collectable film things to pin on them. So eventually when I went to the cinema last (to see Finding Dory) I bought one for my cousin’s little boy who is 5, he totally loved it!

At the moment they have four different choices in the things you can buy which meant it only cost £2 for the wristband already filled with the “charms” which works out the same as buying them separate at 50p each as you get a free wristband with the first one you buy.

It was a little disappointing they didn’t have anything for Finding Dory, maybe they will add that next? As I told him I would keep a look out for any new ones to add to his collection.

Why is gender still such an issue in film?

tumblr_oa9qs5pk201qks3c7o1_1280_zpsxao3p38a

The new Ghostbusters has been causing a stir since it was announced let alone actually released at the cinema. This week has seen previews and the build up to the official release date. I didn’t realise in all honesty that the original Ghostbusters had such a crazy fan base. Don’t get be wrong I love those films they are funny and were a little bit different loved watching them as a kid, but as a young girl where was my role model? A woman who needed constantly saving? Not the best message to send out, this has got me thinking and inspired this blog post to have a look at how far female characters have come in the film world and why this latest bashing is absolutely ridiculous.

Ghostbusters (2016) Review

ghostbusters_zpslumvzdci

Strange things start happening in Manhattan with ghosts and this leads paranormal enthusiasts Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates, nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann, and subway worker Patty Tolan to do something about it! Even when they are accused of being fake and that it’s all a hoax.

Ghostbusters (2016) Trailer

Well considering everyone has been going pretty crazy over this trailer for the up and coming Ghostbusters reboot I thought I would join in!

I actually think the trailer makes it look much better than I expected, I love the original Ghostbusters and really looking forward to seeing which direction they head in with this film. I have been a bit of a fan of Kristen Wiig since Bridesmaids and followed her other films quite closely since then, so I think she is a good choice for this film. Along with Melissa McCarthy who massively surprised me with Spy last year!

Blogathon: Guilty Pleasure Movies

Jenna and Allie over at Flick Chicks have come up with a fantastic Blogathon idea to name and possibly shame yourself with your guilty pleasure movies. Which of those you just absolutely love and they might not actually be that great!

Here are the rules…

1 – You can choose and discuss as many or as few movies as you like. We both did a Top 10, but you can just choose 1 movie if you like. Just tell us a bit about the movie and why you like it so much.

2 – Please create a new post for our Blogathon, rather than linking an old post you may have already done.

3 – Please include our Blogathon Banner anywhere in your post

4 – The deadline for entries is Sunday, 31st August, so there’s plenty of time!
