Golden Globes 2010 – Live

Ricky Gervais hosting the awards which will be an experience, I will keep updating this blog post as the show goes on.

  • The opening speech he headed straight for Steve Carrell with jokes about “The Office” and plastic surgery.
  • Very good opening jokes which seemed to go down well with his audience.
  • Nicole Kidman is the first up presenting best supporting actress in a motion picture.
  • Which goes to . . . Mo’Nique for Precious.
  • First speech of the night is a very emotional one with tears and dreams being reached, a rather long speech.
  • I have just spotted Julia Roberts for the first time 🙂
  • Toni Collette won best actress in a tv show comedy/musical.
  • ooo Robert De Niro is there !!!
  • First Meryl Streep spotting
  • Sir Paul McCartney presents best animated feature and is rather amusing, which has a great shot of Julia Roberts laughing.
  • Winner of best animated feature is Up
  • Kate Hudson introduced some clips from Nine
  • Ricky Gervais saying we have had some worthy winners and some not so worthy winners. Plugging his own film.
  • Felicity Huffman who decided she messed up what she was saying so started over. She has totally lost what she’s trying to say.
  • Best actor in a TV series drama goes to . . . Michael C. Hall for Dexter.
  • Best actress in a TV series drama goes to . . . Julianna Margulies for The Good Wife.
  • Just spotted Mickey Rourke kissing Mike Tyson.

  • Cher and Christina Aguilera presenting the best original song . . . The Weary Kind from Crazy Heart.
  • Best original score . . . Up
  •  Best mini series or tv movie presented by Amy Adams and Josh Brolin. Goes to . . . Grey Gardens.
  • Something that always amuses me about the Golden Globes has to be how difficult it is for the winners to get onto the stage if they are not on one of the tables right next to the stage.
  • Tom Hanks introducing Julie & Julia.
  • Colin Farrell who looks very good I might add. Presenting best actress in a comedy or musical . . . Julia Roberts is sitting next to Paul McCartney. Meryl looks embarrassed with both of her nominations. Goes to . . . Meryl Streep for Julie & Julia.
  • She wants to change her name to T-Bone . . . T Bone Streep hahaha. I really do love Meryl the more I see her, she really is just brilliant. Awww she got rather emotional talking about her mother and how she is really grateful for everything.

  • Kevin Bacon won best actor in a mini series or TV movie for Taking Chances.
  • Drew Barrymore won best actress in a mini series or TV movie for Grey Gardens.
  • Cameron Diaz introducing It’s Complicated.
  • Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler presenting best screenplay for a motion picture . . . Up in the Air. I am so pleased about this!!! Also Gerard Butler was very cute not letting Jennifer Aniston see the paper then saying I’m not telling you haha.
  • Jason Reitman got rather emotional towards George Clooney.
  • Jennifer Garner and Ashton Kutcher present best actor in a comedy/music on TV . . . Alec Baldwin won for 30 Rock, but he wasnt able to attend the awards.

  • Best TV series Drama . . . Mad Men.
  • Taylor Lautner introduces (500) Days of Summer.
  • Halle Berry presenting best supporting actor in a motion picture . . . Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds which I think was a pretty obvious choice.
  • Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio presenting Martin Scorsese with an award. Was brilliant seeing them on the stage together and talking about everything they have done in the films and what an impact he has had on films. Leo sees Marty as his friend and mentor, thats nice !!!
  • Marty’s speech was just brilliant after seeing clips from his films. Everyone in the audience gave him a standing ovation, Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts lead the cheering which was great. You can tell that everyone respects Marty by the way they were watching him.
  • Jodie Foster introduces The Hurt Locker.
  • Mel Gibson is presenting after a very cheeky joke from Ricky Gervais about drinking. Director of a motion picture . . . James Cameron for Avatar. Could this be the first hint of the Oscar going to James Cameron too??? He thought his ex-wife was going to win it.
  • Best TV series comedy/musical . . . Glee. Yes, I really was hoping that Glee would win this. It’s brilliant! All of the cast decided to get on the stage as well.
  • Reese Witherspoon presenting motion picture comedy or musical . . . and the winner is The Hangover.
  • Mickey Rourke (yay) presenting actress in a motion picture drama. He always seems so shy when he has to talk on a show like this.
  • The winner is . . . Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side.
  • Best actor in a comedy or musical . . . Robert Downey Jr for Sherlock Holmes. This is a bit of an outside win I reckon. I love him though he is brilliant. A very funny speech as well.
  • I am really hoping that George Clooney is going to get the best actor award, will find out in a few seconds.
  • Kate Winslet is presenting best actor in a drama . . . Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart. Who got a standing ovation from the audience. They really let his speech be a long one !!!
  • The last award of the night best motion picture drama !!!
  • Presenting this my favorite Julia Roberts. She really does have a great smile. The Golden Globe goes to Avatar !!!
  • Interesting I was hoping for Up in the Air. O well never mind, this will make the Oscars more interesting.

Golden Globes 2010 – Presenters

As the 2010 Golden Globe ceremony is upon us on Sunday, I thought I would start posting some build up and take a look to see who is going to be presenting (and get excited if my favorites are presenting).

The rest of the presenters are, Josh Brolin, Taylor Lautner, Amy Poehler, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Cher, Chace Crawford, Cameron Diaz, Colin Farrell, Jodie Foster, Jennifer Garner, Matthew Fox, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren, Kiefer Sutherland, Kate Winslet, Sam Worthington, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio.

This makes for a very good line up in the presenters, and what should be a good show.

Are you favorites involved?

News: Pfeiffer Wants To Play Catwoman Again

OMG yes please, Michelle was just fantastic as Catwoman in “Batman Returns” so to see her again as Catwoman in a Batman movie would just be amazing !!!

Michelle Pfeiffer is calling on Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan to let her reprise her role as Catwoman in the Caped Crusader’s next movie outing.

Pfeiffer played the feline superhero in 1992 movie Batman Returns.

She handed the role over to Halle Berry in time for a 2004 spin-off – but admits she’d love to reclaim the leather catsuit and join Christian Bale’s Batman in a future film.

Pfeiffer tells Moviefone, “It would be really fun. I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think they like to get a new face for the different characters, and I understand it. But yeah, that was really fun. I had a good time.”

Berry Hopes For X-men Return

I hope that Storm and other X-Men characters get there own Origins movie, like Wolverine would be sooooo cool.

Halle Berry hopes to follow in the footsteps of Hugh Jackman by reviving her X-men character for a prequel.

Jackman’s new movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set before the comic book trilogy and tells the life story of his superhero alter ego.

And Berry, who played weather-controlling mutant Storm in the first three films, would love to return to the franchise with her own X-Men Origins picture.

She says, “I think that would be great. Storm deserves her own movie – if I can still fit into the suit.”

Berry Still Determined Not To Wed

I like that Halle Berry is focused and will not be forced to get married and her partner is also happy with this. I think that in this current age, it just shows that you do not have to be married to be happy.

Halle Berry has repeated her commitment never to wed again – and she’s found a man who shares her anti-marriage stance.

The actress vowed never to be anyone’s wife again after she split from her second husband Eric Benet in 2006, and she’s sticking to her promise even though she’s found love and a family with model Gabriel Aubry.

She tells the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, “I’m done. I happened to find a person who feels done too, and he’s never even been married before. So it works.”

But the 42 year old is committed to being a mum again, now baby Nahla is one.

She adds, “My pregnancy was amazing. I was happy that whole time, I felt good, I had energy, I was like Superwoman. I wish I could feel like that for the rest of my life, that’s how fantastic it was.”

Oscars 2009 – Report

Ok, So I have wrote a big long report as I was watching the Oscars.

  1. Hugh Jackman, with a very clever opening in a song featuring all of the nominated films. He was getting involved talking to the actors, and Anne Hathaway joined him on the stage for the Frost/Nixon segment, which was just fantastic.
  2. Best Supporting Actress – 5 previous winners appeared on the stage to present the nominations. Goldie Hawn, Whoopi Goldberg, Anjelica Huston, Tilda Swinton and I cannot remember who the 5th was. Each of them talked about one of the nominees. This is the first time the awards have been done like this and was a very good touch. Winner – Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona). She began her speech by saying she thought she was going to faint. Share with fellow nominees and thanked a few people including Woody Allen for writing such good in depth female characters. *This wasn’t really a big shock as Penelope had been picking up awards at a lot of the other ceremonies.
  3. Steve Martin and Tina Fey are the presenters, for screenplay awards. Good graphics of a computer screen with the words appearing across as they spoke. Best Original Screenplay – Winner – Dustin Lance Black (Milk). Sean Penn looked really happy when this was announced. Dustin was rather emotional and in his speech told how the story of Harvey Milk really helped him in his life and realise that things can change for the gay community. *Not really a surprise, as this was his first screenplay on a very powerful story with a good movie out of it. I was hoping for a big shock win for my favorite ‘In Bruges’. Best Adapted Screenplay – Winner – Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire). Start of the Slumdog Sweep . . .
  4. Jennifer Aniston and Jack Black are the next presenters. An Animation year book is shown with all the animated films from 2008. Best Animation – Winner – WALL.E. Great reaction from Jack Black who screamed.
  5. Hugh Jackman is back to tell us what happens next in the moving making process. The next two presenters appear, these being Daniel Craig (YAY) and Sarah Jessica Parker (two of my favorites so I was happy!). Art DirectionWinner – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. *First win for Benjamin Button. Back to DC and SJP. Costume DesignWinner- The Duchess. *Possibly a little bit of a shock with Benjamin Button and Milk being in the category. Best Make UpWinner – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. *Win number 2, I was kind of hoping for ‘The Dark Knight’ to get an award early on.
  6. Robert Pattinson aka Edward Cullen and Amanda Seyfried (from Mamma Mia!) introduced the Romance in 2008 yearbook.
  7. Presenters Natalie Portman and Ben Stiller (dressed and behaving like Joaquin Phoneix) which was extremely funny and I really do not know how Natalie managed to not laugh even a little bit at the way Ben was going on wandering around as she was reading the nominations. CinematographyWinner – Slumdog Millionaire. *That’s number 2 now for Slumdog.
  8. Jessica Biel presented a recap of the Sci-tech awards.
  9. James Franco and Seth Rogan on video clip, being the characters from ‘Pineapple Express’. Watching some of the nominees which are the serious films at laughing at them which is just too funny. This is my favorite comedy moment so far.
  10. James Franco, Seth Rogan and some guy who’s name I did no write down come on to present an award. Best Live Action Short FilmWinner – Spielzugland (Toyland). *Which James couldn’t pronounce and Seth started laughing, which was also rather amusing
  11. Hugh!!! Starts talking about how Mamma Mia has now sold more tickets than Titanic in the UK. This is the beginning of a huge medley of songs from loads of musicals. The newer song was top hat and tails with stars names said in it. Singing in the Rain, Hey Big Spender, West Side Story, Beyonce then joins Hugh on stage. Grease, your the one that I want. Sound of Music, Chicago . . . All That Jazz . . . Moulin Rouge, Lady Marmalade. Enter Vanessa Hudson, Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper. One Night Only from Dreamgirls, Hairspray you can’t stop the beat. At last sung by Beyonce, High School Musical 3. Evita. Mamma Mia. I absolutely loved this segment, defiantly my favorite part. I am a total musical geek so this was just brilliant.
  12. Best Supporting Actor – 5 Previous winners take to the stage to present the nominees and the award. These were, Christopher Walken, Kevin Kline, Cuba Gooding Jr, Alan Arkin and Joel Grey. Winner- Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight).Collected by- His father, Mother and sister. So the rumours of them attending were true, I spied Christopher Nolan so figured he would collect it. But it was brilliant that Heath’s family collected it. His father said it was humbling and thanked the academy for recognising the talent in which Heath possesed. His mother said that tonight they would celebrate what Heath achieved. His sister said they often joked about appearing on the Oscars to collect an award and wishes he was here tonight, and they accepted the award on behalf of his beautiful Matilda. *Probably not a dry eye in the house after this one, it was very moving and so upsetting at the same time, but so well deserved for Heath as he is truly fantastic as the Joker. Many of the A List stars looked close to tears too.
  13. Hugh again, moving onto the post production of a film. The action of 2008 yearbook.
  14. Presenter Will Smith. Jokes that the best thing about action films, is the fans. Outstanding Visual Effects– The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. *That’s number 3. Outstanding Sound EditingThe Dark Knight. *That’s number 2. Sound Mixing-Slumdog Millionaire. #3. Film EditingSlumdog Millionaire. #4.
  15. Presenter Eddie Murphy for theJean Hersholt AwardWinner- Jerry Lewis.
  16. Back to the lovely Hugh Jackman again. Mentions how Audery Hepburn said ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ was much better with a score. That’s right onto the music awards. Original Score– Winner- Slumdog Millionaire. Then onto Original Song which were then sung. John Legend sung the song from Wall.e after Peter Gabriel would not perform as he was asked to not sing the whole song. Winner- Slumdog Millionaire. #6 now.
  17. Hughy! Presenters Liam Neeson and Freida Pinto. Foreign Language FilmWinner- Departures (Japan).
  18. Queen Latifah. Tribute to people who we have lost over the past year. She began to sing a song (I do not know if this was a new song for the show, or if it is an old song I haven’t checked yet.) “I’ll be seeing you all in the old familiar places. The pictures were shown on the screens and the last person to show was Paul Newman with a clip from one of his films.
  19. Back to Hugh, who introduces the president of the academy (who did not make a speech) and that there is going to be a new president next year. Presenter Reese Witherspoon for the best director award. Direction– Winner- Danny Boyle. While yes I do dislike, Slumdog Millionaire. I do really like Danny Boyle, he just seems so genuine and a nice guy. In his speech he first jumped up and down on the stage apparently being like tigger. He began by saying that the show is bloody wonderful from the theatre. Firstly thanked his family and even mentioned the social club, haha.
  20. Best Actress in a Leading Role– the 5 previous winners who were presenting, Sophia Loren, Shirley MacLaine, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman and Marion Cotillard. I was hoping for Julia Roberts in all honesty. But loving Shirley MacLaine, shes just awesomeness. Winner- Kate Winslet. YAY for Kate :-). Its taken her to 6 nominations to get her first win and I am so pleased for her. I loved how she held Angelina Jolie’s hand as she walked to the stage, just too cute especially after the whole forgetting her from the Golden Globe speech. *Speech- that she probably had a version of this speech when she was 8 years old with a shampoo bottle, and it certainly wasn’t a shampoo bottle now. Thanked her family and friends, and asked her dad to whistle, which he did and she screamed was brilliant. Mentioned people she worked with from Peter Jackson, to Emma Thompson and then her Sam (Mendes). And that she couldn’t believe being in a caterogry with Meryl Streep.
  21. Best Actor in a Leading Role– the 5 previous winners were, Robert DeNiro, Sir Ben Kingsley, Adrien Brody, Michael Douglas (YAY) and Sir Anthony Hopkins. YAY for Michael Douglas! But were was Jack Nicholson ?!?! Why wasn’t he at the Oscars ?!?! And why did they say Sir for Ben and not for Anthony?!?!?! Winner- Sean Penn.Wow, I really must say that I thought Mickey was going to get it, and I am so sad that he didn’t get it, but Sean was still a very worthy winner. Dustin Lance Black, was shown a couple of times crying. *Speech- Thanked his friends, the support, Cleve Jones. Gus Van Sant the director. The people who do not support gay marriage to have a good hard think about it and that we have to have equal rights for everyone! but my favorite part and quote of the whole Oscars “Mickey Rourke rises again and he is my brother.”  Mickey then blew him a kiss.
  22. Hugh introduces Steven Spielberg.
  23. Best Picture – A look back at the different films nominated for best picture in the past. Winner- Slumdog Millionaire. I was really hoping for an upset but it didnt happen.
  24. Hugh Jackman, ends the show.

Overall it was a very good show, and much better than last year. The only thing it really missed was Jack Nicholson sitting grinning in the front row. I mean how can you have an Oscars without Jack?!?! I think some of the surprises for the presenters for the acting awards were the best parts, although a few of them did walk the red carpet, but others did not. I also hope they bring back Hugh Jackman as host next year.

Oscar Winners – Pictures

As the Oscars is only 2 days away. I thought one way to celebrate is to post some pictures of previous winners with the Gold statue in hand.

Martin Scorsese eventually won as Oscar for “The Departed”. Presented to him by Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
