RIP Alan Rickman <3

I don’t even know where to start with this post expect that I have been felt very sad since hearing the news of the great Alan Rickman’s passing just after lunch time today. I mean I could not quite believe it twice in the space of a few days a truly legendary figure leaving us and finding out via Twitter. It really is such awful news, the very well-respected and loved actor of not just film but stage as well. An actor I have loved from a young age as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and then coming across him in so many more wonderful roles. Must mention his turn as Snape in the Harry Potter series as come on he is one of the best characters, as well as Love Actually a different type of role again and Die Hard. Those are the films I immediately think of when the name Alan Rickman is mentioned but I know he had so many more great roles as well, the voice!

7 Reasons why we should feel sorry for Draco Malfoy

This may seem a rather controversial post considering Draco is Harry Potter’s enemy, but is it really as extreme as that was the years pass and things change at Hogwarts? I am not really sure how this post will go down with people in all honesty as at times it probably does seem crazy to feel sorry for Draco.

I must obviously state that this post does contain SPOILERS

Blogathon: Women in Film – Hermione Granger

The Women in Film Blogathon is being hosted by John over at Hitchcock’s World and such a great idea to get you thinking about female characters in the world of film.

Here are the rules:

  1. The female character in question should have qualities that make her strong. That doesn’t necessarily mean better than the guys, just well-written; we’re trying to promote equality here, not reverse misogyny.
  2. Unlike my previous blogathon, I’m going to be a bit stricter here and say that each entry should only focus on one character. However, if you like you can write multiple entries examining different characters.
  3. If you can, do try to find less obvious choices. There are a few that I can expect are likely to get picked: Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor, etc. If you decide to write about any the “obvious” choices, I encourage you to at least try and find something new to say about them.
  4. You are allowed to pick characters from any film from genre or time period you like.

Recreating the Movie 6 – Harry Potter

At the weekend I went down to London and took a little visit to Platform 9 and 3/4 whilst in King’s Cross. So this is perfect for recreating the movie and getting Harry Potter involved in it!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II (2011) The Final Build Up!

The beginning of the end for me is at 12:05am Friday 15th July . . . that’s right I am heading to a midnight screening of the final Potter film when it all ends! Let’s take a small look at some of the scenes that have been talked about by the cast and we have had small clips of in the trailers. I have left out a couple as the spoilers in them would be too much!

The Kiss

One of the biggest talking points has been the long-awaited kiss between Hermione and Ron. Something which the actors who see each other more like brother and sister were totally dreading.

Snape’s Story

For once and for all we will find out what Severus Snape’s story is and which side he is really on. This is something that has kept everyone guessing throughout the entire series. If we start thinking he’s good something happens and we think he’s bad again and vice versa. This has to be the part I am most looking forward to in it’s adaptation from the books, as it actually made me sob!

Neville’s Finest Moment

We have all watched Neville struggle over the years, as everything always seemed to go wrong for him with a wand in his hand. In each class if something happened it always seemed to be to him. But in the final stand and the battle of Hogwarts this is Neville’s finest moment when he proves that he is indeed a brilliant wizard doing his mother and father proud.

Harry and Tom

It all started with the curse going wrong on one year old Harry Potter and now Tom Riddle . . . Lord Voldemort face off. We all know that only one of them can survive but which one will it be? We have seen small clips from this part in the trailers and the anticipation growing towards it is massive.
