Harry Potter Challenge – Day 30: What affect has Harry Potter made on your life and how much does it mean to you

I think it made me realise how incredible books can be if they are written in such a fantastic way and how much you can fall in love with a different world. You are taken on an amazing journey and can relate to everything the three main characters go through and how difficult it really is growing up. The things you are put through at school and what everything means to you as you do grow.

We love Hogwart and wish we could have gone to school there and that magic and wizards are actually real. It is incredible how J.K. Rowling managed to create all of this in such incredible depth.

The Final Potter Premiere

Yesterday evening saw the final Harry Potter premiere take place in Trafalgar Square, with what was possibly the biggest red carpet ever linking to Leicester Square. The premiere was broadcast live around the world, and yes I did find myself watching for a few hours. It was a very emotional experience for everyone involved, even watching it all unfold. The cast members were clearly overwhelmed by the amount of fans who were stretched around the stages and red carpet. Such unbelievable scenes in London. All of the cast members spent plenty of time signing autographs and posing for photographs.

Watching live we had interviews and words from all of the different cast members. To finish with we had the three biggest stars of the films, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Joined by J.K. Rowling herself and the films producers. This lead to emotional speeches taking place and causing each other to get emotional and the tears began to flow. The realisation that this was the last time they would ever have a world premiere for a Potter film and they would never experience anything like that ever again.

This time next week I would have seen the film already for myself as attending a 00:05 showing on Friday 15th July. What I am seeing as a brilliant start to my birthday weekend. Although if my worst crying moment in the books is put into the film in more of a visual way I may indeed leave the cinema in pieces. I am looking forward to the film, but at the same time I really do not want it to be over at all.

Harry Potter Challenge – Day 25: Nineteen years later. Are you happy how it turned out, or do you wish something was different

In all honesty I am not entirely sure if I was completely happy with it all. I was never a big fan of Harry and Ginny together to find out they stayed together all of those years. But I guess it was a nice way to tie everything all up. But maybe a few years later rather than 19 years later would have been a little bit better? Or just leaving it all for us to decide what happened to them all would have been another option. But Rowling does have the whole Harry Potter world stories so I guess she knows best!

Harry Potter Challenge – Day 24: Any particular scene you wished would have been put in the movie but it wasn’t

I wish we could have had the whole prefect story-line in the films as I felt it was a very important part in the book, just showing something that caused some friction between Harry/Ron and Hermione. As it did give a little edge between them and made sense of why Harry had felt a little more alone. I can understand why they took this out as a prefect would not travel well to different countries as I am assuming it is a very English school thing!

Harry Potter Challenge – Day 19: Do you prefer the books or films

This is such an easy choice, it has to be the books! While the films are very good adaptations of the books, it is just not the same. You fall in total love with the books and the characters, everything about them are just incredible. So much depth is placed in the Harry Potter world.

The magic of the books make you have your favorite characters and moments. You care deeply for the characters and what happens to them. Which I felt made the last book so much more difficult at times. We grow so attached to the characters and to the Harry Potter world.

Harry Potter Challenge – Day 18: Least fave book

Another hard choice, as each book really does have something special in it. I think that my least favorite book has to be the Chamber of Secrets. Mainly because it was quite difficult to stay interested in the book. It was just missing a little something that the rest of the books have.

Pottermore is online!

J.K. Rowling’s announcement on what Pottermore is has just been made available for the first time after the owls began gathering. It is going to be a unique online experience reading the books, and finding out more information about the Harry Potter world.

The books will also be made available as E-Book’s for the first time!

This is all going to start in October but some fans will be able to get involved in July to help start creating the online world.

I have no idea what I was expected from this announcement but this is one way that the Harry Potter world is well and truly going to be kept alive!

Pottermore

Last week a website with the title Pottermore appeared with coming soon across it and J.K. Rowling’s signature. Leading up to an announcement which you can follow the countdown here. Nobody seems sure at all what the announcement is going to be about, but early talk has stopped rumours of a new book and stated that is not what it is all about. I guess we can still hope a little bit that we are going to get another book.

You can also follow on Twitter the account https://twitter.com/#!/pottermore which has made just two tweets and has over 72,200 followers! It really does just show the power of the internet and social network sites with how fast people heard about ‘Pottermore’ only 3 days and 2 hours to find out what its all about!

Harry Potter Challenge – Day 1: Your fave book

This was such a difficult decision as all of the books really are just a joy to read and addictive from start to finish. I eventually decided on the Half-Blood Prince because I literally read it in 2 days. I could not put it down at all. We get to know so much more about the link with Harry and the plot really does thicken leading into the final book.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) Review

We head back to Hogwarts for second year. Although something or someone is trying to stop Harry from getting back. He receives no letters from Ron or Hermione over the summer, then cannot get through the barrier at King’s Cross to get on the Hogwarts express. But what is he being warned against?
