Now that I have your attention with this quote from Jurassic Park, you read it in Jeff Goldblum’s voice didn’t you.
Just thought I would post a little update due to the lack of blog posts and film reviews. Believe it or not until Thursday (two days ago) I hadn’t been to the cinema for a month, which I actually feel is the longest I have gone in many years. That was for a few reasons really, being busy having started a new job in January, closing in on finishing my PGCE and not really wanting to see the films that had been released. Years ago I used to try and watch every single film that was released but these days I feel I make better choices for my personal prefrences when it comes to what I will actually enjoy watching.

It appears though, that Cineworld missed me in that month and have sent me a free popcorn and drink which I will natuarally be using in that 7 day period. But can we also just talk about the quality of films on offer over that past month not being very appealing, also please feel free to update me if you feel I have actually missed something good. On Thursday I caught The Penguin Lessons (with review to follow).
The wonderful wizard has arrived … That’s right Jeff Goldblum!

Life has never been easy for Elphaba after being born totally green, resented by her father and ridiculed by everyone she meets. Everything is about to change when her powers are spotted and she attends Shiz University. An unlikely friendship with a very popular girl named Glinda would change everything.

Based on one of the most beloved and enduring stage musicals in Broadway history, Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz, starring Emmy, Grammy and Tony winning and Oscar®-nominated powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway’s The Color Purple) as Elphaba, a young woman misunderstood because of her unusual green skin who has yet to discover her true power, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman gilded by privilege and ambition who has yet to discover her true heart.

Universal Pictures, in collaboration with the acclaimed powerhouse stars of Wicked —Emmy, Grammy and Tony winning artist and Academy Award® nominee Cynthia Erivo; Grammy-winning multi-platinum recording artist and global superstar Ariana Grande and pop culture icon Jeff Goldblum—today announced The Journey Through Oz, a five-city global premiere tour celebrating the release of Universal Pictures’ generation-defining cinematic event, Wicked (in cinemas 22 November).

In the 1950s a documentary is presented about the creation and production of Asteroid City, a play by famed playwright Conrad Earp. In the play, a youth astronomy convention is held in the fictional Asteroid City.

Continue reading “Asteroid City (2023) Review”That’s right on this date way back in 1993, Jurassic Park was released at the cinema (in the US) as I have since found out that it was actually released in the UK on my 6th birthday on the 16th July. Anyway the 9th June was the first release date so I thought it was the perfect opportunity for a celebration blog post gushing about everything Jurassic Park.

I still find myself totally blown away with the film when watching it now and the fact that it has a lovely 4K UHD upgrade makes it look as good as ever. That is something that just highlights the impressive nature of the filmmaking behind it all really, the fact that it is still better than what they did with Jurassic World.
