It may no longer be as welcome, but smoking has had a place on screen since the medium began. It’s synonymous with the black-and-white era of cinema with screen giants like Humphrey Bogart and James Dean stealing scenes with the simple puff of a cigarette. But, even if it’s to a lesser extent, modern cinema has retained the tradition of depicting smoking on screen. Here, we’ll take a look at some of the most iconic smoking scenes across movie history.
Humphrey Bogart’s Oscar-nominated turn in the all-time classic ‘Casablanca’ included plenty of scenes of him smoking at the bar. After uttering the immortal line “Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine”, his character Rick Blaine stares into the distance forlornly, only pausing to take a smoke. Bogart was able to use smoking as a subtle expression of emotion, whether laid-back cool or heartbreak.

The next ten are here . . .

Two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster’s wife and a pair of diner bandits all intertwine in some very strange moments and events!
I thought this would be a very fitting musical moment this Monday due to the 20th anniversary of Pulp Fiction and it having a one day only re-release in cinemas across the UK tomorrow! What better than Uma Thurman dancing around to a brilliant Neil Diamond song? I absolutely love this scene as she really is going for it and I am sure we have all been guilty of dancing (and singing) around the house like this!
I have just come across some remakings of classic movie posts for the TCM Classic Film Festival.

The awards which like to honour the worst films of the year! Yes its all just a bit of fun and to laugh at really. But the Razzie nominations were released last night, yes the day before the Oscar nominations are due out. Interesting as Sandra Bullock could end up as the best and worst actress of the year . . . you see what they have done there.
They even have worst movie, actor and actress of the decade awards to give out.
What do you make of the Razzies?
