2016 at the Theatre

Here I go with an overview of my 2016 of theatre trips to see musicals and plays. Touring shows that have come to the North East at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle and the Sunderland Empire. As well as managing to have a few trips down to London to take in what the West End has to offer! You can check out the list of shows here. I have somehow managed to out do 2015 catching 31 shows in 2016!

Stage Door – Mark Rylance

Today was my final theatre trio of the year to see Mark Rylance starring in the play he co-wrote Nice Fish (review to follow). Afterwards I headed to the stage door and was actually rather surprised that only two other people had decided to wait for him to come out.

London Trip (4-7th Oct 16)

img_0354_zpsgh0s0nsd

As you probably noticed I went to London for a nice 3 day break last week, mainly because I had tickets for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child something which I had booked nearly a full year before the actual date. I just so happened to book this on the same day that the BFI London Film Festival was going to be on, great timing! My original plan was to stay for 3 nights and get in as many films (and theatre) as possible. But due to cost I changed my mind on this as the hotel was pretty expensive.

Preview: BFI London Film Festival 2016

image001

As the BFI London Film Festival starts tonight I thought it would be a good idea to put a post together to preview some of the films that will be making an appearance at the festival and the different Gala/UK Premiere’s happening over the next 11 days. It really is a fantastic event that takes over the many cinemas in Leicester Square with plenty of star acting power in attendance.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Recently the talk has all been surrounding the official opening of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Part one and two) in the West End. The first story in the Potter series to be made especially for the stage, while it has been open for well over a month in previews everything has really kicked on over the past week after it is now open! Reviews have been coming out, I haven’t read any yet though.

Then today the play was released I hope people realise it is in play format and not as just a story like the other books. I know the big fans will but I am sure it will catch some people out. J.K. Rowling is pretty awesome releasing it on the date that would be Harry Potter’s 36th Birthday, I saw that on twitter I didn’t just know it I promise!

Thank You Les Mis!

Yesterday at around 5pm I went onto Twitter and had a lot of notifications. I was a little bit confused in all honesty as don’t usually get that many. When I realised what it was for I was rather shocked yet ecstatic at the same time.

The brilliant amazing thing that happened was the Official Les Misérables twitter feed had only went and put my review on! Pretty exciting stuff and was extremely chuffed about it, as you can imagine that saw a massive boom in my stats!
