Obviously I cannot help but jump on a trend so created an action figure through ChatGPT and naturally got a bit carried away by adding different items and making it really film related to my favourites. Also I uploaded a photo where I was wearing a Wicked Theatre t-shirt.
Both J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and C.S. Lewis, writer of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, were Oxford University dons. A leading expert says visitors can stay in the colleges where they once lived and worked and see the real-life places that inspired Bree, Mordor and Narnia.
C.S. Lewis, author of the Chronicles of Narnia, was a tutor at Magdalen College, which many people (including Lewis) claim is the most beautiful college in Oxford.
Hobbit lovers and fans of the magical world of Narnia can now stay in some of the Oxford colleges where the famous authors of The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia spent much of their lives. The city is also the home of many places that inspired some of the most famous scenes in literature.
Lily Smith, a travel expert from the specialist accommodation finder UniversityRooms.com, says: ‘J.R.R. Tolkien was a student at Exeter College, Oxford, and later became a professor at Pembroke and then Merton College in the city. C.S. Lewis was a student at University College and then became a tutor at Magdalen College, which many people (including Lewis) claim is the most beautiful college in Oxford.
Rest in peace to British actor Bernard Hill who has sadly passed way at the age of 79. Star of Lord of the Rings in the incredible role of King Theoden and as the Captain in Titanic, being two of his biggest roles. Many other acting credits on both TV and film, as well as a respected stage actor. Thoughts go out to his family and friends.
That’s right I totally cracked (eventually) to get another amazing Build-a-bear and quite frankly I should not be allowed to look at them! Why oh why do they need to have and create so many amazing film related bears now?
If you wanted to have just a Lord of the Rings bear than that is perfectly possible, with the logo on one foot and part of the map of middle earth on the other then you can just buy that on its own! Originally it was Gandalf and Frodo as options, but more recently Legolas has been added (it took a lot of restraint to not order something with Orlando Bloom’s voice in it!).
I am still totally buzzing that last night we got to go to the Special Fan screening of the first two episodes of the new Amazon series The Rings of Power, taking us back to Middle Earth once again. We have heard so much in the build up to the release of this series and how much money Amazon have put into making it!
I have been utterly obsessed with Lord of the Rings since that release back in 2001 and have been really looking forward to this series, maybe even a little bit nervous as I felt The Hobbit trilogy lost some of the magic we got from the original trilogy. I am very pleased though to be able to say that from the first two episodes that Amazon have absolutely nailed it! It was also extra special that my fellow LOTR loving friend Michelle came with me to the special screening at Tyneside Cinema.
The music, the stunning scenery, the way the map is used to then show the different places, some characters we already know and loads of new ones that we are going to get to know.
I seriously cannot believe that it has been twenty years now since Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring was released in cinemas. I remember going to the cinema to see it as well, although not fully understanding what exactly it was but I can safely say that I had never witnessed anything like it before and the debate to whether we will ever witness anything on this scale again is very much up for debate.
One of the only pluses about the lockdown last year and when the cinemas reopening they did not have a whole lot of films and Lord of the Rings got a cinema release and they only went and put the extended editions on the big screen (the only editions now really) and I went to see all three of them twice within ten days of the big screen, as Odeon screened them first and then when Cineworld added them in I just had to go again. That was amazing that 19 years on and I still love them more than ever. While I may not watch them on repeat as much as I used to and in particular Fellowship of the Ring, my obsession with the film came a year after the cinematic release when I got the extended edition on DVD that looks like a fancy book. I would seriously watch it and then start it al over again, I have watched them all with the cast commentary and every single special feature.
It’s safe to say I was utterly obsessed with Middle Earth, I managed to read all of the books as well before Return of the King was released and I was just well taken into this magical world. If there was no Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings then you would not be reading this and Let’s Go To The Movies would not exist. It was the film that really grew my love for cinema and how amazing films could really be, no other films have made me feel the way this trilogy did and I don’t think anything will ever come that close. I felt part of the Fellowship and wanted to be on that journey with them, given the way the filming was done we really did feel that way when it came to watching the cast off set as well as on set. I was a member on some Lord of the Rings forums (anyone who is old enough to remember what an Internet forum is) as well as an Orlando Bloom forum. I have never hidden my fangirl moments over Bloom, which all seemed from Fellowship of the Ring, albeit I was slightly disappointed the first time I found out he didn’t actually have blonde hair. Hey, I was 14 years old?
Over the past few years I have found myself buying a new Christmas jumper, mainly for Christmas Day each year and have gone for film related ones in recent times. Although rather disappointing when hardly anyone actually knew that my Golden Girls jumper was in fact the Golden Girls. You can get some outstanding ones now which is why I decided to put together this blog post to highlight just how amazing some of the Christmas jumpers are and they appeal to pretty much every single fandom! Whatever you love the most you are guaranteed to find a jumper for that somewhere!
You can get a lot that are in sweatshirt style but I still personally prefer the proper trashy jumper style and when you add in film they really do have some great levels of detail on them.
