My Top 100 Romantic Films

This is something I have been looking to put together for a while now I am truly an absolute sucker for romantic films, I really cannot resist a good romantic drama and the good romantic comedy. We all know love in real life is nothing like in our favourite films but that is surely a reason why I like them so much, they are different. Obviously give us an unrealistic expectation about finding love and well keeping it with someone.

I am picking the 100 films to be in this list that are my favourites to watch, I thought that would be the best and easiest way to rank them. I guess it will also help me to see if I prefer the hard hitting tragic love stories or those that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside with the cute happy ending romantic films.

A man and woman begin flirting with each other at a wedding, but is everything as it seems with the sexual tension that is so obvious between them?

“How can you ever smile, as if your life hadn’t capsized?”

Ok so this one from an English Patient may seem like a very strange post on Christmas Eve but I guess it is quite a good time to reflect on life and the previous year which in all honesty 2015 has been nowhere near fantastic. It has had a hell of a lot more lows than highs, and being off work of the past week and a bit has been pretty fantastic in all honesty. It has given me the much needed time to actually see my friends and catch up with them, the only problem is I cannot then do that every year and only be able to see some people properly at Christmas. Although it has given me quite a few days of enjoyment in all honesty, but shouldn’t life have a good balance all year round and not just for a few days or a week?

This certainly does not feel like the case well any of the time in all honesty. Maybe that should be my plan for 2016, I love the thought of keeping it film related as that is something that I use as an escapism from my very dull work filled life in all honesty. They help me switch off and I have made sure to get myself to the cinema, especially on the worst of days. I am sure a lot of people reading this will do the same with film and that is something that really aids to the enjoyment factor at times. It helps you forget about all of your problems and issues for a few hours, that really is something that each and everyone of us need now. Lifting your head up from your phone and taking something in, entertainment, art call it what you will but it helps. Trust me.

“There’s nothing more irresistible to a man than a woman who is in love with him.”

Here we go again.

I mean that in two different ways. The first being a second blog post more about life and love but using the films I love. Tonight’s post comes with a rather heartbreaking quote from The Sound of Music. Well I find it that way, considering it is the Baroness who says it to Maria about the Captain. You know the man she is actually engaged to! But the more you think about that quote the more you realise that it is true, if he knows how you feel then it seems to work against you. If he isn’t sure then he’s all for you. Seriously men you really are the complicated ones!

“Me? I’m Scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw. I’m scared of what I did, of who I am and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.”

I have decided to start a new type of blog post on here, using a film quote that comes close to how I am feeling I am going to vent my thoughts and probably stress (and massive overthinking) in an attempt to get rid of it all to be honest. I am not going to set how often these blogs will be but I guess that just depends what exactly is going on in my life. Although I don’t really have a massive amount of a life at the moment, so much work and no time for much else. That is one of the reasons I love going to the cinema, that is my switch off and relaxing time (well maybe not always relaxing if I pick an awful film). This will be extremely film related though so don’t worry!

Having had a very tough few months and the past week with not a massive amount of sleep, I think it does play with your mind and makes it more difficult to see things rationally. That who paranoid state seems to creep in and you doubt well pretty much anything and everything. I think the above exchange between Portman and Kutcher is a great way to start, what a feeling right?

Catherine Zeta Jones Anniversary Photo

A massive fandom of mine over the years has been Catherine Zeta Jones (thanks to her Oscar-winning performance as Velma Kelly in Chicago). It’s actually quite brilliant that she is now on Instagram and it made me very happy to see her latest photo post wishing Michael Douglas a Happy Anniversary. I am a huge fan of the pair and the films they have been in so just had to post this photo as it really has made me all fangirly! Showing that things can really last in Hollywood!

Real loss is only possible when you love something more than you love yourself

It has been two weeks now since my Grandad passed away and I am still struggling to come to terms with the fact that he is no longer with us. That I won’t be able to just pop round to his house and see him, whilst also getting made fun of (in a loving joking way). I feel like that is the hardest thing to get your head around when it comes to a loss like this.

7 Heartbreaking Moments in An Affair to Remember

After taking part in the History Blogathon and mentioning An Affair to Remember, it made me want to watch it again. In the process it also meant that I am inspired to write this post. The film really does break your heart so many times, it’s quite crazy! So I have picked seven times it manages to do just that. But it could actually be more than seven really.

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS

Blogathon – The Classic Movie History Project (2015)

I was very excited to see a post about The Classic Movie History Project Blogathon last week, so have managed to jump at the chance to look at some older films that I have throughly enjoyed and put my thoughts all together in one post about quite a few films.

The blogathon is being hosted by Fritz at Movies Silently, Ruth at Silver Screenings, Aurora at Once Upon A Screen and sponsored by Flicker Alley. My post is in the modern era . . .
