Obviously this film awards season year has been as strange as the rest of 2020 and 2021, therefore without our cinemas in the UK it has been an even tougher task to catch the award seasons films. So I have decided to try and help out by listing the ways you can watch the Oscar nominated films in the UK and possible dates if they are not currently available.

BAFTA Awards 2021 – Longlist!

Yesterday BAFTA released the longlist of films that are going forward to round 2 of voting for this years awards! I have to admit a couple of surprises I reckon but always really interesting that they release this information.

BEST FILM
15 films go through to the Round Two of voting, and five will be nominated. This is the only category voted for by all film voting members in all voting rounds. 244 films were submitted for consideration.

OUTSTANDING BRITISH FILM
20 films will go through to Round Two of voting. The top five films from the opt-in chapter vote in Round One automatically receive a nomination. The next ranking 15 films will be considered by a jury, who will vote for five nominations. 10 films will be nominated in this category. In Round Three, the general voting membership will select the winner in this category. 74 films were submitted for consideration, all of which passed the BFI Diversity Standards.

Theatre: Olivier Awards 2016 – Nominations

Awards season goes on this time in the Theatre world with the nominees being announced for the Olivier Awards which celebrate the West End (similar to the Tony Awards for Broadway). Obviously having managed to get down to London twice to see Gypsy I will certainly be rooting for that to win all the awards it has been nominated for!
