Captain America Blogathon

Captain America aka Steve Rogers missed a lot when he was frozen between 1943 and 2011. The idea of this blogathon is to pick 10 films between those years that he should watch to catch up on what he missed out on! I was trying to come up with a format on picking my choices at first I thought Best Picture Oscar winners, but then I decided against that and would pick Best Picture nominees from over the years, so the films which did not actually win the Oscar.

So here we go with my 10 choices . . .

Top 10: Movie Characters I Would Like To Be For The Day

Well I stumbled across a post on My Filmviews blog titled Which Movie Character Would You Like To Be For The Day and decided to follow suit and complete my top 10 of movie characters I would like to be for the day. Putting this list together didn’t really take too long at all. Especially as most of the characters come from my favorite films.

I tried not to be shallow and pick characters based on their leading man . . . but I think that failed with some of the choices but I mean that had to be a coincident. I honestly didn’t do it on purpose! Yes a few of them are musical characters, maybe that’s because I am tone-deaf!

Musical Moments

Each Monday (hopefully) a song or part from a movie musical will be blogged about. This may vary from a scene, a musical number, facts about the musical as a whole or just general chat about the musical. Occasionally comparisons maybe made between the stage show and movie version.

If you have read my blog for any length of time this will all probably come as no surprise to you and you will already know that I am a total musicals geek! I figured it would be good for me to write more about different aspects of musicals and have been trying to figure out a way to do that for quite some time now. I think this musical moments feature on a Monday is certainly the way forward for me to spend some time writing about musicals.

I know the musical genre is often only enjoyed by a select few, everyone still seems to have one musical that they actually quite like (even if they struggle to admit it). So hopefully this feature will at some point have something for everyone in the different movies that will come up! It may even encourage people to watch more musicals.

If you want something from a movie musical to be included in the feature at some point please feel free to ask!

Movie Quote of the Day 70

Today’s quote is just totally true . . . and comes from musical “Mary Poppins” sorry to all the men out there haha.

Though we adore men individually, we agree that as a group they are rather stupid.”

News: Roberts Hides Her Career From Kids

Awww this really is just too cute !!! I heart Jules so much, and love that she tries to keep her kids life normal. Also that they watch Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music !!! Love it 🙂

Julia Roberts is determined to keep her acting career secret from her children for as long as possible – she doesn’t want to ruin the magic of movies for them.

The Hollywood star is mother to three kids with husband Danny Moder – twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, four, and Henry, two – and deliberately refuses tell them she is an actress.

She tells British magazine New, “They don’t know what I do – yet. I kind of like it that way. I don’t know what they’re going to ask me when they do realise and I don’t know what I’m going to tell them, because I want movies to stay special for them for as long as possible.”

And the star admits she has already lied to Hazel about the secrets behind the film-making business.

She adds, “My daughter said to me the other day that Maria in The Sound Of Music sounded a lot like Mary Poppins. I said it’s because they’re both English! I didn’t want to say, ‘Well, it’s because Mary Poppins is really Julie Andrews, who’s an actress,’ because that would burst that perfect bubble. So I prefer not to deal with it right now.”

Movie Picture of the Day 16

I havent posted a movie picture of the day for quite a while now. So today’s picture is from Mary Poppins, this must make everyone smile.
