Top 10 Movie Love Songs

I have been feeling rather on the lovely dovey side for no reason whatsoever, so thought I would pick my top 10 movie love songs. Or songs about love.

10. My Heart Will Go On – Celine Dion (Titanic)

I think while this song gets a lot of criticism and people saying this dislike it. I am sure when it first came out everyone loved it a lot. It totally fits together with the movie and the ending. “Every night in my dreams, I see you, I feel you” I mean that line is just so lovely its unreal. I love it!

9. It Must’ve Been Love– Roxette (Pretty Woman)

Probably quite a strange choice with this being top 10 love songs, when this is about a love ending. “It must’ve been love . . . but its over now . . . “. I am sure loads of people have related to this song, but in terms of the movie it wasnt over for Jules and Richard. It was just a small stepping stone until they got together for real in the end. Which is how most people would love to happen to them in there lives.

8. Unchained Melody – Righteous Brothers (Ghost)

How could this not be in the top 10?!?!? The very famous pottery scene and when everyone was totally in love with Patrick Swayze after Dirty Dancing. Lovely . . .  “I’ve hungered for your touch, alone . . . lonely times . . . and time goes by so slowly . . . ” I think its just perfect for this movie it fit together so well. “Are you still mine . . . I need your love . . .” it really is a deep love song. Longing for the person and wanting them more than anything. Which is just awwwwww.

7. When You Say Nothing At All– Ronan Keating (Notting Hill)

“You say it best . . . when you say nothing it all . . .” It would probably look like a very strange love song, “what I hear when you dont say a thing” its relating to all the emotions a person shows towards someone that they are in love with and care about a lot. So to show you love someone you dont have to say anything and in Hugh Grants case in the film that probably would have been the best idea haha. He always seemed to say the wrong thing at the wrong time.

6. Time of My Life– Jennifer Warnes &  Bill Medley (Dirty Dancing)

“Now I’ve had the time of my life, never felt like this before, I swear its the truth and I owe it all to you . . .” I think that opening line to this song, describes how baby feels towards Johnny throughout the whole film. He taught her so much in such a short period of the time and they fell for each other so much. So I think this song perfectly fits the movie, and especially the ending. Showing everyone that they had the time of their lives. “This could be love . . .”

Jackman Plans Carousel Trip With Oscars Partner Hathaway

I think Hugh and Anne would make a fantastic pairing for a new version of Carousel *fingers crossed*

Hugh Jackman is trying to persuade his Oscars dancing partner Anne Hathaway to join him on the Carousel.

The Aussie star has developed a script for the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical and he wants Hathaway to play Julie Jordan opposite his Billy Bigelow.

He says, “I’ve been looking to do a musical film for some time and after things like Moulin Rouge!, Chicago and Hairspray, I think there’s a real opportunity there.”

And he’s clear only Hathaway will do as his leading lady: “I’ve been filling up her answering machine with messages about Carousel.”

Hathaway, who joined Jackman for a song and dance at the Oscars, is about to embark on her own musical journey – she will star in a new theatre and film adaptation of The Wizard of Oz star Judy Garland’s life.

Random Rant 1

I’ve decided to now start doing posts titled random rant from now on, for random rants believe it or not, haha. Basically when I’m not writing a review, top 10 list or something like that, movie posters or some latest news. Just a post with mentions of movies or actors, depending on what I have on my mind and if I am really clever quotes too haha.

So this is the very first official random rant and I have no idea which direction it is going to go in . . . I am trying to decide which movie to watch on Netflix watch instantly but ended up on this rant instead. I am currently leaning towards starting to watch “Sweet Charity (1969)” because its a musical and they usually make me smile and happy. Not that i’m sad just annoyed with the whole football results, but I wont get into that here.

I currently have iTunes on shuffle, and its actually quite amazing that so many songs on my iTunes remind me of certain movies with the songs featuring in them. For example “rescue me” which is on right now reminds me of “Sister Act” when Whoopi Goldberg is cleaning the car and doing all those chores. I love Sister Act it is just brilliant and one of my favorites from childhood. Its funny how that is one of the movies I could watch a million times and not get bored of it. (An idea for a list there I think!!!)

I keep wondering if anyone actually reads my blog, like all the time looking for updates and stuff. As this week has been the best EVER week since starting my blog for fews. Hopefully on track to be the best month as well, after I slipped up with updates through most of March. But back bigger and stronger now.  I just hope I actually do have people who read it all the time, as I think that would be rather on the cool side. (Feedback would be great . . . )

I have so many movies on my to watch list and really hope that I will get a lot of them watched over the next few months. As most of the movies on that list are old. Thank god for Netflix. I should get my next dvd on tues/wed I reckon. If they get “Juno” back tomorrow. I really did enjoy Juno, as I was rather worried after all the great reviews that I would be let down and disappointed. But I certainly was not, it was so clever and funny. I would definatly buy that to watch over and over.

I suppose a plus side of not having all my DVDs is that I am making myself watch movies that I have not actually seen before instead of the same old favorites. But again when I fancy just watching something I have seen already and love/like I can use Netflix for that too. Take Dirty Dancing 🙂

I think this rant should end pretty soon as I am running out of things to say and should actually watch a movie instead of just ranting and ranting.

Film Version of Spring Awakening

As you may now know, I am a massive musicals fan. So the announcment that a new musical is going to be made, always goes does well with me. So recent tony award winning show (opening in London’s West End very soon, after a successful off West End preview) is going to be made into a movie. Thats very good I would say.

Terminator Salvation director McG, who got his start behind the camera on music videos, is in talks to direct and produce a film adaptation of the Tony-winning rock musical Spring Awakening. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s developing the project with original book and lyrics writer Steven Sater, who worked with musician Duncan Sheik to create the reimagining of Frank Wedekind’s controversial 1891 play. The story centers on a bevy of male and female students coming of age, and explores homosexuality, S&M, loss of virginity, masturbation, and suicidal tendencies.

The Sound of Music (1965) Review

“The hills are alive with the sound of music, with songs they have sung for a thousand years.”

When Maria a nun leaves the convent to become a governess to the seven children of Captain Von Trapp, she never expected to fall in love with him. A truly incredible musical that really does have so many incredible musical numbers.

Fame (2009) Movie Posters

So “Fame” has been remade for a new generation and I am very excited. Fame is very well known, I have even played 5-a-side football dressed in Fame gear haha.

I really hope that the dress is still the leg warmers etc, as without that it would not at all be the same. So far 4 different posters have been released in different colours. They are quite simple in my opinion. But the poster for me does not matter I am a musicals geek so would see it no matter what.

Chicago (2002) Review

Come on babe, why don’t we paint the town . . . and All That Jazz !!!

Best Picture winner in 2003, and rightly so. Chicago really did mark the return of the musical. Showstopping and so entertaining.
