9/11 – 20 Years on

On September 11th 2001, so many people innocently went about their normal morning routine before heading to work on what was a very normal day having no idea the tragedy that was about to come. In New York City a plane hit one of the twin towers and the world watched thinking it was a truly terrible accident until a second plane hit the second tower and it was clear that America was under attack.

As a 14 year old I can still remember coming home from school and seeing the news as the plane hit the pentagon and the fourth was “brought down” we later found out about the heroics of those on board United 93. Going to school the following day in an English lesson we talked about it with newspaper reports, all struggling to understand it.

In all honesty even now twenty years later I still cannot understand this truly tragic and horrendous day, which then turned to weeks, months and years of grief for so many people. The brave emergency service workers doing their duty and not really having any idea what exactly was happening.

Over the past few weeks I have found myself watching so many documentaries about this day and the true amazing moments of human courage to help save others, it really has been an emotional journey to see and hear about more stories from this day.

Forever rest in peace to all those people from around the world who were impacted on that day and still now.

7 Reasons to still love You’ve Got Mail

That’s right I am talking about the 1998 romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, which for as long as I can remember I have totally adored and loved. I think they are even better together in this one than Sleepless in Seattle. It’s one of those delightful little films that you can put on when your feeling a little bit low and feel so much better because of watching it. I even went through a phase many years ago of watching it over and over again, you know as soon as you’ve finished watching it putting it back on again!

So with plenty of passion and love for this pretty much perfect Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan collaboration, I have put together this gushing piece and hope that others feel the same way about You’ve Got Mail as surely it cannot actually be hated when it does so much good?

2018 at the Theatre

Here we go with my run down of everything I managed to catch at the Theatre in 2018, this includes plenty of UK Touring shows coming to Newcastle’s Theatre Royal and the Sunderland Empire. I squeezed in a few London trips and even another New York trip thanks to my marathon place!

In 2016 I managed to see 31 shows. In 2017 I managed to see 36 shows. My total for this year 2018 was 26 different shows. Not as many as the previous two years, but still a very impressive number. Check out which shows here!

I couldn’t have been anymore excited about eventually heading to #FriendsFest after having the tickets booked as soon as they went on sale. This was the first time the Comedy Central UK tour of everyone’s favourites friends was coming to Newcastle and I certainly could not miss out! I thought it was essential to put together this blog post to celebrate Friends, show off the incredible photos we had taken and a truly fantastic day spent with one of my childhood friends and naturally a fellow Friends fan and geek!

Video Clips on the Bus!

Following the walking tour in Central Park the next day it was time for the Bus TV and Movie tour. Which was leaving next to Ellen’s Stardust Diner which meant we just had to go back for breakfast! To start the tour we are shown a DVD which would go onto show us many different clips from films throughout so we can remember just what scenes were filmed at the location we were currently at, heading to or had been at!

Stage Door – David Hyde Pierce

Following the sensational performance of Hello, Dolly we went straight for the stage door and got a fantastic spot at the front of one of the barriers. Quite a lot of people congregated hoping to see Bette, but rumours around the crowd were that she never comes out on a Sunday. Which turned out to be true.

David Hyde Pierce did come out though and he was fantastic, taking plenty of time to make sure he signed everyone’s Playbill and made eye contact saying hello as he was signing. I was super impressed with Niles, yes I could not resist that Frasier reference!
