Top 10 – Best Films of 2009

The 10 films I found the best from the year 2009. Yes you may think its now April, but I was trying to keep it to films from 2009 based on the year they were made rather than UK release date as that is often different to the US release date. Anyway I didn’t want to end up with a confusing list not containing some of the best of 2009 because I saw them at the beginning of 2010.

Check it out see if you agree with many of the films! As I am sure some of the films included would not have been expected.

Oscars 2010 – The Show

Possibly the most predictable Oscars in recent times. But what was the show like? Well I thoroughly enjoyed it last year and that was because of host Hugh Jackman and some changes made to the show. I had also seen most of the nominated films and was much Team Rourke thinking we were going to see Mickey win for his role in “The Wrestler” a film I really loved. But that didn’t happen and then the very overrated Slumdog took the big prize, I pretty much fell out of love with the Oscars.

Oscars 2010 – Pictures

My thoughts and opinions on the Oscar’s will be coming in the next couple of days when I manage to finish watching the ceremony. So I decided to search for pictures of the winners, my favorite actors and actresses along with pictures of the winners.

Oscars 2010 – Predictions

I am afraid this is going to be my last Oscars 2010 post until some red carpet pictures and the results and my opinions on who one, how the show went and the hosts Steve Martin and my man of the moment Alec Baldwin. As I cannot as originally planned stay up to watch he ceremony. 😦

Another downside to this years Oscars, I have not managed to see many of the nominated films. Some still have not appeared in my local cinema which has been so disappointing! My predictions therefore have to be based on what I have heard about some of films and performances (and where the other awards shows have gone to).

Movie Quote of the Day 67

Today’s quote comes from Oscar nominated “Up in the Air” which would be my choice of best picture and best actor . . . but I cannot see that happening tonight at the Oscars. Great quote ❤

How much does your life weigh? Imagine for a second that you’re carrying a backpack. I want you to pack it with all the stuff that you have in your life… you start with the little things. The shelves, the drawers, the knickknacks, then you start adding larger stuff. Clothes, tabletop appliances, lamps, your TV… the backpack should be getting pretty heavy now. You go bigger. Your couch, your car, your home… I want you to stuff it all into that backpack. Now I want you to fill it with people. Start with casual acquaintances, friends of friends, folks around the office… and then you move into the people you trust with your most intimate secrets. Your brothers, your sisters, your children, your parents and finally your husband, your wife, your boyfriend, your girlfriend. You get them into that backpack, feel the weight of that bag. Make no mistake your relationships are the heaviest components in your life. All those negotiations and arguments and secrets, the compromises. The slower we move the faster we die. Make no mistake, moving is living. Some animals were meant to carry each other to live symbiotically over a lifetime. Star crossed lovers, monogamous swans. We are not swans. We are sharks”

Oscars 2010 Luncheon – Pictures

The annual luncheon for nominees before the Oscars took place earlier this week which is a build up to the Oscar ceremony. I am still really happy that Colin Firth has been nominated, I can’t wait to see “A Single Man” which has still not come out here yet.

Oscars 2010 – Nominations

The day eventually arrived and the nominations have now been released (I now know which films I have to watch before 7th March) and we can all start debating and creating our predictions on who is going to walk away with the golden statue come Oscar night.

We go back to 10 nominations for Best Picture and an animated film has been included in those 10, that being Up. Now that will cause a lot of debate because from what I have read people preferred Wall-E to Up. From my first look at the nominations the only suprise for myself is seeing District 9 in the Best Picture cateogry. Everything else is pretty much what was expected.

Best Picture

Avatar
The Blind Side
District 9
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious
A Serious Man
Up
Up in the Air

Oscars 2010 – Host’s

The nominations for this years Oscars are due to be announced in a couple of hours. Whilst looking around on the Academy Awards website I came across the poster for this years Oscars and a couple of pictures of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. I am now even more looking forward to the Oscars following my new found fandom for Alec Baldwin! I have always loved Steve Martin in the Father of the Bride films as my guilty pleasures. I think it should be a very good show and both of them as hosts really does add something for me in the build up. It is going to be totally different to Hugh Jackman last year but best to keep changing things around I reckon.

Up in the Air (2009) Review

Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) is a man who lives out his carry on suitcase while travelling around America firing people as his job. He is hired by company’s who are too scared to fire their own employees. He is all about collecting miles and gets a thrill from this, but when his company decide to ground him can he save the job he lives for with the travelling or will it make him change?

Oscars 2010 – Host’s Martin and Baldwin

Two time host Steve Martin and Academy Award nominee Alec Baldwin are widely being reported of co-hosting the 82nd Annual Academy Awards Ceremony. I think both of these choices will do a very good job of hosting the Oscars. Giving it a different spin to how Hugh Jackman hosted this years ceremony. Steve Martin having hosted twice before and being very entertaining. Alec Baldwin who is extremly witty as well as funny will bring something different again. I am sure both of these men will bounce very well off one another as well.

What does everyone else think about Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hosting?
