Unwatched DVDs

For quite a few years now I have had problems buying DVDs of films which I have never seen before. These films may have one of my favorite actors in, won a lot of awards (mainly Oscar’s), I had heard a lot about the film or I missed it at the cinema. This is made more difficult when HMV, Asda and play.com all start selling DVDs for £2 or £3.

This morning I decided to have a look and see how many of my DVDs that I have not ever watched . . . just the ones that I have never seen the film either. I have 30 of these DVDs and my plan is to watch them over the next few months. I probably have tried to watch a couple of them before but other than that they are films that I have never got round to seeing.

I have decided that I am not going to buy any more DVDs of the films I have not yet seen until I start watching some of these which are just sitting around. That may encourage me to watch these a little faster.

Here is the 30 long list of films I plan on watching over the next few months . . . or maybe longer I am not going to put a timescale on it but they are now top of my to see list. Why not? I have them ready to watch whenever I want.

Chicago (2002) / Nine (2009)

While I was writing my review for Nine (and even watching it) I was trying not to compare it to Chicago. Mainly because I love Chicago and it is one of my favorite films ever, so to compare another musical directed by Rob Marshall on one viewing would not be very fair. So I have decided to take a deeper look into both movies and not really say which one is better, but to show comparisons.

My One and Only (2009) Poster

Just come across this poster Renee Zellweger’s up and coming movie. I have to say I like the line up of the cast, Chris Noth and Eric McCormack = good times. I love Mr Big, haha.

News: Bridget Jones Is Back

I really do think this is fantastic news. I am such a huge fan of Bridget Jones, I would love it if that means a third book will come out as well. As the books are so good too.

Bridget Jones is back – Renee Zellweger has signed on to appear in a third film about the hapless diary-keeper.

The first film in 2001 grossed $282 million (£188 million) worldwide, while the 2004 sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, raked in $262 million (£175 million).

And bosses at British studio Working Title have decided it is time for Zellweger to return to the role of the beloved Brit to round out the trilogy.

It is thought the new film will concentrate on Jones’ quest to have a baby in her 40s.

Colin Firth and Hugh Grant are expected to return, according to reports.

Funny Moments – Using Icons

Yes I am that bored and dont have a new movie to review, so thought I would post some funny movie moments in icon form.

 – 4o Year Old Virgin

    – Bridget Jones Diary and Bridget Jones Edge of Reason

  Finding Nemo

   – Grease

    My Best Friends Wedding

Movie Character’s I Have Related Too . . .

You know what its like, theres a moment in a movie when you totally feel for the character because you can see some of yourself in them and just know you would react the way in which they do. So I decided to make a little list using icons to help explain it all.

I will start with Bridget Jones . . . picking the wrong guy and doing really stupid things, yep that sounds about right, haha. And yes I have drunk a bottle of wine to myself on a few ocassions, like a virgin is my karoke song . . .

Iris from “The Holiday” played by Kate Winslet. Had such an awful time with a certain guy, she even gets a holiday exchange to get away from him, haha. But yes I could so feel her pain at times knew exactly hows she was feeling.

Charlotte in Lost in Translation . . . I just really have hit a crossroads in my life over the past couple of years and not sure at all what I am supposed to do.

Well I guess when looking at the icons those are the only three that I could find. So this will be part one, haha.

10 Movie Quotes – That Mean Something To Me

I decided to do a list of 10 movie quotes that really mean something to me and I really relate to with how I feel about love, a certain man and life in general. I probably have posted most of these quotes on the blog at some point, but that just shows how much I love them,

“Sometimes I wish I had never met you. Because then I could go to sleep at night not knowing that there is someone like you out there.” (Good Will Hunting) –

While I love this quote, I more love that it kinda explained how I felt about someone a while ago. I always feel it is mis-quoted in terms of how it is said in the movie, as it is not said between two people who love each other. It is about Will Hunting (Matt Damon) being so brilliant.

“I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life, the way I feel when I’m with you.” (Dirty Dancing)

Dang this hit me very hard when I watched the movie recently as it was totally how I felt when I left to come to the USA when I kinda said goodbye to someone. Although we did not say bye as such . . . but that whole moment in Dirty Dancing is totally how I felt.

“After all . . . tomorrow, is another day.” (Gone with the Wind)

I think this is always important to remember. That no matter how bad things are, tomorrow is another day (and hopefully a change in fortune?)

Zellweger Puts Acting On Hold

Awww I want Renee to keep making movies!!! Must be nice that she can just decide to stop, and do nothing though haha.

Renee Zellweger is taking a break from acting, so she can spend time doing nothing and “getting bored”.

The actress has worked non-stop since she shot to fame in the 1990s and hasn’t had time for any vacations.

But Zellweger admits she is in need of a break and has instructed her agent to turn down all movie offers until she’s fully rested.

She tells America’s Glamour magazine, “I’m working on getting bored, and it’s really hard! I need to sit still long enough to see where my brain goes. I’m taking time to figure out where I want to go and what I want to do next. In this line of work, you become so (defined by your job).”

And Zellweger insists she’s having fun rediscovering life’s simple pleasures.

She adds, “I’m actually going into the bathroom to use my bathroom stuff – rather than to the suitcase where I usually keep it. I’m learning how to use a chest of drawers! I am determined to sit still long enough to get past the existential crap of the moment.

“I want to learn more. I want to know more. That’s what taking this time is about. I’m curious about so many things, but haven’t had occasion to be exposed to them enough to really appreciate them.”
