London, Monday 18th November 2024

Director Jon M. Chu was joined by Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey and more of the spectacular cast of the upcoming film, Wicked. The UK premiere was the final tour stop on the global press tour ahead of the films release this Friday, 22 November.

Special guests in attendance to celebrate the release include: Alan Carr, Henry Golding, Kimberley Walsh, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Mabel, Maisie Peters, Munroe Bergdorf, Olly Alexander, and previous ‘Wicked’ cast from the West End.

Based on one of the most beloved and enduring stage musicals in Broadway history, Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz, starring Emmy, Grammy and Tony winning and Oscar®-nominated powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway’s The Color Purple) as Elphaba, a young woman misunderstood because of her unusual green skin who has yet to discover her true power, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman gilded by privilege and ambition who has yet to discover her true heart.

“An unforgettable performance from Timothy Spall”

Jason Solomons, BBC Radio London

Parkland Entertainment is delighted to announce the home entertainment release of THE LAST BUS on Monday 8th November. Featuring an exceptional lead performance from Timothy Spall, The Last Bus has touched the hearts of audiences across the U.K. during its successful cinema run.

John O’Groats, Scotland: An elderly man, Tom (Spall), whose wife has just passed away uses only local buses on a nostalgic trip to carry her ashes all the way across the UK to Land’s End, where they originally met, using his free bus pass.

Unbeknownst to Tom, his journey begins to capture the imagination of the local people that he comes across and, ultimately, becomes a nationwide story.

The Friday Fake Cinema Club (FFCC)

Welcome to 2021 when in the UK at least we currently don’t have the Cinema to attend. So I have come up with an alternative to try and keep everyone going as well as discussions around films that quite a few people have watched at the same time. Some of these you might have seen before or some could be new films, I will use a wide range of streaming services Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+ and even Sky Cinema (also included in Now TV). As I am UK based I will be going off what is available in our area, hopefully this is similar to different countries and can be transferred for more people to take part!

This was the first tweet I have put out about this to gage interest and really looking to push forward so if anyone would like to add films to the list, comment on this post, tweet me @LetsGoToTheMov7 or email letsgotothemovies7@gmail.com (Subject heading FFCC – Film Suggestion).

Recreating the Movie – V For Vendetta

Remember remember the 5th of November . . .

Seems very appropriate for two reasons. Today is the 5th of November, in the UK we are entering lockdown take 2 and the face covering seemed so necessary! Which made for a new instalment of Recreating the Movie!

BFI London Film Festival 2020

Is anyone else truly excited that this year the London Film Festival is going to more cinemas around the UK and also premieres happening online?

I certainly am, I have been lucky enough to get to a couple of films over the years while in London during October. But being based in the north east does make this very difficult given the hotel prices around the time of the festival also going up.

I really do hope that this new format will ensure more people can actually watch the films and I guess I have to also hope that cinemas in the north east will not be missed out (we often are for things like concerts etc up here).

Two weeks to wait as the line up is being announced online on Tuesday 8th September!

HAYS TRAVEL TAKES ANOTHER TRIP TO COOKSONVILLE AS IT CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE CUSTOMS HOUSE PANTO

For they are jolly good fellows – oh yes they are!

John and Irene Hays hit the headlines in October this year when their company, Hays Travel, took over the retail arm of the collapsed UK tour operator and airline Thomas Cook, saving 555 shops and over 2,300 jobs.

They’ve been hailed as superheroes in the travel industry – but The Customs House has always known how special the UK’s largest independent travel agent is.

Guy Fawkes Night

AEBFDCCB-B7F9-4A0C-9AB4-A09E4147D119

Basically this means it is the perfect date to watch V for Vendetta! More commonly known as Bonfire Night now, the 5th November in the UK marks the anniversary for an attempted plot by Guy Fawkes to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.

This has led to Bonfires being lit and firework displays on and around the 5th since!
