Stage Door – Whoopi Goldberg

Arrived in London ready to see Whoopi Goldberg at the London Palladium on Saturday night doing her first ever UK stand up show. By total fluke I found out a few days ago that she was going to be on Friday’s Loose Women so we decided to try and see her coming out after the show finished.

The Color Purple (1985) Review

color_purple_ver1_zps1apay67yCelie Johnson has had to fight her whole life to just stay alive with abuse from her father and then forced to marry Albert who continues the abuse. It is a story about hope and being able to find the courage to stand up for yourself.

Musical Moments – Whoopi Goldberg

On Saturday I will be at the London Palladium watching Whoopi Goldberg on the stage in her first ever UK stand up act, as well as a 30 minute question and answer session. Very excited as she has always been one of my favourites and in so many memorable films from growing up in the 90s! I am very excited about sitting in the fourth row and seeing the legend on stage so close up.

I guess I have seen her before though when she hosted the Tony Awards the year I was lucky enough to attend she even came on as Mary Poppins!

Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993) Review

Delores is back for a second adventure and it doesn’t take long before she has the habit back on and is Sister Mary Clarence again helping out the nuns she became friends with after hiding out in the convent in the first film. This time though she must be a teacher for the music class, can she work her magic for the second time?

Musical Moments – Sister Act

If I ever hear this song on the radio I always think about this part of Sister Act. It certainly is one of those songs that makes me think about a film scene.

Who doesn’t want to be rescued on a Monday?

Tony Awards 2011

The 2011 Tony Awards are taking place in a couple of weeks now and a lot of my favorite actors and actresses are going to be attending the event. I think its also very good to see how many of them have crossed over from the stage to the silver screen and starring in many different films.

Daniel Radcliffe, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Whoopi Goldberg will present Tonys during the June 12 ceremony honoring Broadway’s best.

Also slated to hit the stage at the Beacon Theater are Chris Rock, Alec Baldwin, Samuel L. Jackson, Kelsey Grammer, Viola Davis, Vanessa Redgrave, James Earl Jones and Harry Connick, Jr.

Christie Brinkley, David Hyde Pierce, Marg Helgenberger, Matthew Broderick, Angela Lansbury, Jim Parsons, Joel Grey, Patrick Wilson and Robert Morse will also appear.

Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris returns to host the 65th annual show, after a successful attempt last year.

I actually attended the 2008 Tony Awards when Whoopi Goldberg was the presenter.
