I have been looking forward to Alice in Wonderland since hearing that Tim Burton would be making the film. I love Tim Burton films as they are always very different to anything you have seen before. The film is due for release on Friday and I am very much hoping that I can get to see it on Friday.
Earlier this week we had the Odeon cinema change announcing that they would not be showing the much anticipated film because Disney plan to release the DVD 12 weeks after the cinema release instead of the usual 17 weeks. I found this very strange that Odeon were willing to lose out on so much money by not showing the film and letting their usual customers got o other cinema chains. This didn’t really effect myself as I am a Cineworld customer. Cineworld is actually opening the film on a massive release with hundreds of screens across the country. Odeon changed their mind and decided to release the film this Friday. It really does look like its going to have a big box office taking.

This is another 3D world we are going to enter the looking glass. Go back to wonderland on an adventure with Alice. I am sure most people have seen Alice in Wonderland before. So this story is going to be just brilliant, Alice going back to wonderland to see the wacky and wonderful characters we will recognise or recall from seeing the film when we were younger. Even from seeing the trailer and having the Chesire cat pop out in your face with its massive grin really did look impressive. So maybe this is the right type of film to see in the 3D? I am still wondering why everything is going in the direction of 3D, does it really matter and make much of a difference?

As with any film Johnny Depp is in as a crazy character this is the performance and often the reason you want to see the film. Alice in Wonderland is no exception as Johnny Depp takes on the role as Mad Hatter. There is no-one madder than Johnny Depp who could pull of this type of role.
Some brilliant British actors are the voices of the animated characters. Michael Sheen is the White Rabbit, Stephen Fry is the Cheshire Cat, Alan Rickman is the Blue Caterpillar, Barbara Winsor is the Dormouse.
Along with Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Matt Lucas as Tweedledee/Tweedledum and Mia Wasikowska as Alice.
It really does look like its going to be a fantastic cinema experience. Lets hope it lives up to the hype I have just placed on it.
There was talk the review embargo on the film was due to a perceived poor reception…doesn’t look that way now…I’ve only read good things about the film.

I have just read one of the morning papers and the reviewer has totally slated the film. Giving it just 1 star and stating it is a big mess. So I guess we only have a few days now to find out for ourselves.

I was hesitant about seeing this, but after reading some of the reviews that are out (currently standing at a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes) I’ll definitely check it out sometime next week (during spring break).

Very much looking forward to how you will find it, with not being a huge fan of Tim Burton. As I think that often gives us a different view and opinion.
