Bee Movie (2007) Review

Barry B. Benson is a bee that has just graduated from college and is not happy that he then instantly must make a choice in which area of making honey he wants to spend the rest of his life in, he manages to get on a trip outside the hive and saved by human Vanessa. Although he breaks all the rules and then decides to sue the humans for stealing bees honey!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bee Movie was released back in 2007 and that was pre-Let’s Go To The Movies which means I have never actually reviewed it before! I can still remember that it was a film we went to see at the cinema and it instantly became a little bit of a cult film because it was so utterly ridiculous and crazy. The thing is that turned out to be not only for my friends and I, it seems to have that in general. You can even find a twitter account that has tweeted the whole film!

Why exactly has it become a bit of a cult surrounding the film? Well, the storyline in the end has a human woman actually falling in love with a bee? Pretty much and it has some hilarious and totally ridiculous scenes, I mean even a suicide pact is mentioned. The thing is though when I have previously watched this film it was even before I watched the utter genius that is Seinfeld the sitcom. So given this a rewatch now having watched it all twice is something totally different as well.

Although despite the fact that Barry is a bee, it does raise some interesting points about having to pick a job/career and just do that for the rest of your life. I am sure that is something the majority of people can relate to, although at least we have more choice than bees? It also showed how important bees are as well though, when humans stop using the honey and bees stop making it everything goes downhill so it has that going for it as well.

Then you add in the voice work from Jerry Seinfeld who just has a funny voice, he doesn’t even have to try and he just sounds funny! Then Renee Zellweger properly going for it as well, with Matthew Broderick, John Goodman, Chris Rock and Kathy Bates making up a rather impressive cast. Not forgetting both Ray Liotta and Sting allowing themselves to be laughed at during the court scenes.

Come on share your thoughts and memories of watching Bee Movie for the first time!
