30 Years of Jurassic Park! ðŸ¦–

That’s right on this date way back in 1993, Jurassic Park was released at the cinema (in the US) as I have since found out that it was actually released in the UK on my 6th birthday on the 16th July. Anyway the 9th June was the first release date so I thought it was the perfect opportunity for a celebration blog post gushing about everything Jurassic Park.

I still find myself totally blown away with the film when watching it now and the fact that it has a lovely 4K UHD upgrade makes it look as good as ever. That is something that just highlights the impressive nature of the filmmaking behind it all really, the fact that it is still better than what they did with Jurassic World.

Despite the fact that the dinosaurs actually I mean the T-Rex and Raptors with this part, attack and try to kill the humans you still wish you could visit Jurassic Park totally forgetting that it is not real at all. But anyway who cares, it feels real when you’re watching it and the tension and suspense built up to that first T-Rex scene is still so very special. Then what follows is actually outstanding as well, even if the dinosaurs screen time is really not all that big throughout the whole running time of the film.

We feel like we are on the journey with the characters and fully understand the reactions they have. Given the fact that this means if you are of a certain age you have spent the past 30 years rewatching the film and that means you are now the adult characters within it and see everything as them now rather than the children. Surely that is another reason why this film is so goddam good and special?

Fun Facts/Trivia

  • Infamous roar of the T-Rex were a mixture of dog, penguin, tigers snarl, alligators gurgle and baby elephants squeal.
  • The film generated so much interest in dinosaurs that the study of palaeontology had a record increase in students.
  • Groundbreaking for CGI.
  • Richard Attenborough came out of retirement to star in the film.
  • Spielberg made this and Schindler’s List in the same year!
  • Budget of $63m and grossed $913m at the box office.
  • Won three Oscars – Best Sound, Best Special Effects Editing and Best Visual Effects.

Have to mention the iconic quote from Jeff Goldblum and quite frankly Ian Malcolm was right wasn’t he! Called so very early on within the madness of what was going on in creating the dinosaurs!

    1. I love that we are still asking those questions if it can really happen! The latest one was nice with the nostalgia of bringing back the old characters that’s for sure.
