Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves (2023) Review

Edgin is a rather charming thief who together with a rather misfitted group of unlikely adventurers must head on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic, obviously nothing goes to plan!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Firstly I felt I needed to state that I don’t really have any idea about Dungeons & Dragons at all, so fully went into this blind in all possible ways.

We follow Edgin who had been imprisoned previously served in the Harpers until his wife was killed by disciples of the Red Wizard. He had attempted to make a new life for himself and his daughter Kira by turning to theft. Obviously that was never really going to work and he must get himself out of prison and try and get his daughter back from Forge.

Along with amateur sorcerer Simon Aumar, nothing goes right for him at all, which in all honesty you cannot help but get frustrated at him while watching. Although he does end up with a rather good character arc! Holga Kilgore a barbarian is another member of the group. They must go on a quest and seek help along the way from many different characters.

It does create a big and vast world, with many different communities and species which was a little bit of a world wind at times but I am guessing this was a way to possibly set up a huge franchise?

It was engaging enough with plenty going on, I would be interested to know how fans of the game found the film and if they agreed with how it flowed and progressed. I will however say that Hugh Grant’s film choices in the past ten years have been truly wonderful and this was another to add to that, he just seems to be having the most fun with these different roles. I personally would have liked more of his character! Chris Pine is a good lead and has the charisma to really drive films forward, so can’t complain about that.
