15 Years of Let’s Go To The Movies

That’s right it has been 15 years to the date since I made my first post on my WordPress Blog which was then just FilmReviews7 with the title “Films, Films and yes more Films” It then took me until the 7th June 2009 to decide on the name change to Let’s Go To The Movies and that is what it has been ever since and I am still really pleased that was the name I decided on.

Back in 2009 I seriously would never have thought that I would still be blogging and reviewing films after 15 years as it was just a little hobby to basically use it as a journal of some sort to log the films that I had watched. In all honesty I hate nothing more than reading the older reviews and feel at some point that I need to go back and edit them. I know my writing isn’t amazing, groundbreaking or anything like that but I always hope that my passion for the films I truly love and adore comes across in some of the reviews at the very least.

Depending how viewing goes across the year Let’s Go To The Movies could reach an outstanding landmark and milestone of hitting 2 million views, I’m unsure if this will be achieved but I guess it just depends on the number of posts. Something I have noticed over the years is certain posts dropping off the Google search and then suddenly reappearing again!

2016 – 2017 – 2018 – 2019

Those years I was in the Top 10 UK Film Blogs by Vuelio, I was always extremley proud of this because the majority of the sites listed in those lists were ran by more than one person and I have always just plodded on by myself. I’ve never made any money from the blog and the cost with WordPress each year is quite a lot for the domain and the package that I have running through the site. The best thing is that I have received free screeners and links to review films (I only request ones that I think I will like and don’t force myself to watch films that aren’t for me).

Since 2018 I have been a proud member of the OAFFC – Online Association of Female Film Critics.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Let’s Go To The Movies for the past 15 years, new and old! I know in that time a lot of different blogs have come and gone with only a few from 2009 (and before) still going now.
