Paddington must return to Peru when he receives a worrying letter that his Aunt Lucy has gone missing from the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown family joining him they must work together to help in the search.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A journey through the Amazon rainforest was certainly not on the list for Mr. Brown and given the level of risk it was never going to be straightforward. Mary had been struggling with the fact that Judy and Jonathan were growing up and not spending as much time together as when they were younger, so she sees the trip as a great opportunity for the family to reconnect.
The letter arrives from the Reverend Mother who is in charge of the Retired Home for Bears, although we instantly know that something isn’t quite right with her manner or anything she is actually saying. With that we also get Hunter Cabot as our bad guy, with plenty of versions of himself as ancestors.
There’s not really much more to the plot than that and it is all obvious but the biggest issue is that now we are onto the third film it really does feel like everything is just repeated. It is still enjoyable enough though and has such a lovely heart at its core but it doesn’t reach the level of the first two films.
Agree with your comments. So think you’ve been a bit generous with your score! I wasn’t as kind. My review here: https://bob-the-movie-man.com/film-review/paddington-in-peru-pg-ursine-heroics-that-bearly-reaches-the-bar/

Yeah I probably was and more based that from the first two films as well, I think it might be because I still got a bit emotional at the end but didn’t put that in my review as a potential spoiler. I also got mid-way through and was confused about Emily Mortimer and Sally Hawkins and thought I’d made up it was Hawkins in the first two films!

I thought Emily Mortimer did a good job… but Sally Hawkins would have been so much better. As for the ‘spoiler’…. I don’t think it is a great surprise is it that Paddington is going to find the missing Aunt Lucy in the end! 😉

It was more that it looked like he was going to stay and leave the Brown family, it felt like the toys going to “die” in Toy Story 3 😂
