Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025) Review

Bridget Jones must navigate life as a widow and single mother to her two children, with plenty of help from her family and friends. She is about to understand that she still has a life to live, even if its not the one she thought she would have.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is a truly emotional journey that I was certainly not prepared for at all, I will openly admit that I wasn’t really looking forward to the film or expecting much from it. I found the third film to be a little bit disappointing, but by god they have pulled it back with this one.

The reason I wasn’t overly looking forward to this?

Mark Darcy.

That’s right, I just didn’t think I would cope without Mr Darcy who was quite frankly everything in the other films and gave us all such hope that nice guys do exist and men aren’t all really like Daniel Cleaver.

Speaking of Cleaver, I really did enjoy him being back from the dead and being Uncle Daniel was a nice touch. Also getting a few rather moving moments, while still being a dirty flirt that we had been so used to over the years.

Bridget is attempting to navigate her life without Mark and raising Billy and Mabel in her own unique manner. Still supported by her amazing friends, who are along for the ride as usual. That is another reassuring part, that once you find your people they will always be around when you need them the most.

We then see her getting back into the dating world, four years after Mark’s death. Now I thought this was going to be tough and difficult but it was done in such an impressive way. Showing that new world of social media app dating, with a much younger man in Roxster. Come on we all knew the way this was going, right? Then Mr Wallaker a new science teacher at the children’s school.

Renee Zellweger is a fantastic actress and I am so pleased that she got to be Bridget again and in such an emotionally charged film. We then get Leo Woodall after his success in One Day and the ever realiable Chiwetel Ejiofor. Hugh Grant made a very welcomed returned and let’s face it his career is the best at the point. Mila Jankovic and Casper Knopf were very impressive child performances. Emma Thompson was the scene stealer and had some cracking lines!

  1. Renee and Chiwetel were just on my wife’s show to promote the film and they are both so gracious, interactive and proud of the film! Glad they got it right but my wife was also worried about no Mark Darcy!
