The Life of Chuck (2024) Review

We are taken on a journey through three different chapters in the life of a rather ordinary man named Charles Krantz, aka Chuck.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The first chapter we are taken on becomes quite strange very quickly, as we see Chuck everywhere and thanks for 39 great years. With Marty being our main character, having no clue who Chuck was, and everyone truly thinking the world was going to end. The way this was done actually became very impressive in the story telling, even though I was rather confused as it was actually happening. It made people attempt to reconnect with those who meant something to them, who would you want to spend the last moments of the world with?

The second chapter we see a moment in his life where things maybe didn’t make sense at all, a sheer moment of joy. How many of those moments do we actually have within our own lives? This part was certainly where I started to become emotionally involved in the characters and stories.

The third chapter is where everything is brought together and how trauma shaped Chuck’s life and his grandparents then attempting to do the best they could for him. We find out his true passion, which he then did not continue and that is utterly devastating. It made me really think hard about how many people are not true to themselves and when reaching a certain age give up on what they really love and want.

I reached a point where I was fully engrossed in this film and thought the pacing and order of everything worked so very well. It made it thought provoking and how if you don’t actually stay true to your dreams then no one else will push you towards them. The universe of Chuck makes you think that each and every person actually has a different universe, the people who are in their lives as well as the things that have happened to them.

The combination of Tom Hiddleston, Jacob Tremblay and Benjamin Pajak all split the role of Chuck and were very convincing in being that same character. I feel I need to admit that it took me a while to realise Albie was Mark Hamill, it was one of those moments where I recognised him but couldn’t actually think of who it was, yes really!
