When Ivy and Theo Rose begin to resent one another after years of marriage, not being able to cope in the success shift of power.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
While the Roses appear to be a perfect couple and have an amazing life from the outside, we get to see the downfall and manner in which they destroy one another. We are taken on the journey from when they met to now it all falling apart. Seeing them disagree on raising their children, twins Hattie and Roy.
I enjoyed the build up of seeing how they met and then moved to the US, with Theo being very successful as an architect after Ivy had given up being a chef and had stayed at home to raise the twins whilst also making the most incredible cakes. When everything takes a shift and Ivy becomes successful that is not something Theo can then actually deal with. He then takes on the twins and begins to embed fitness into the daily routine, which both Hattie and Roy become obsessed with and this leaves Ivy feeling leftout.
What really makes this film entertaining is the performances and exchanges between Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch. Obviously both are tremendous actors and quite frankly have been two of the most impressive Brits within film and television for many years now. To see them both go all in with the insults towards one another truly is excellent.
I have seen quite a few people shocked with the ending, but I have always enjoyed the original film War of the Roses with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner so that did not come as a surprise, I did enjoy a few moments which linked back to that one though.
We were torn about this, because while we love the cast, we really love the original – now I want to see it – great review!

I think my love for the original impacted this a little bit, as the pairing of Colman and Cumberbatch is very good!

Both terrific and a great supporting staff…I will watch it – but sadly probably not until I can stream it. That said, NOTHING beats the movie theater experience so I try not to rely on home viewing too much! Great reviews as always
