The Long Walk (2025) Review

A group of teenage boys compete in an annual contest known as The Long Walk, in which they must battle to the death and the last one standing is crowned the winner, this will see them have more fortunes than they could have imagined.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In an alternate future where America has become a policed state, teenagers are selected to enter into the annual contest, the winner will have anything he wants for the rest of his life. The Major is very strict on the rules, those being that they had to maintain a pace of three miles per hour without stopping, they would get three warnings and be out. The warnings though could be cancelled out if they made it through the next hour (or three) without getting another. This meant you could not stop for anything, that’s right even needing the toilet!

We follow Ray aka Raymond Garraty aka #47 as he had volunteered to take part which is certainly not a normal approach to this race. Each of the participants were given a number and that was often how they could be indentified. As we follow Ray, he quickly gets on very well with Peter and they help each other out in all possible ways when things begin to get tough. Some mystery surrounds the others and we get to know some of the characters more than the others.

I will admit that I was not sure what to expect with this at all, and it certainly packed a very tense and emotional punch that I was not at all prepared for. The ending was not really the way I expected and that was certainly another positive really!

The performances were good and I felt as though David Jonsson totally stole that limelight with the most engaging of them all. Cooper Hoffman is not one of my favourites due to my hatred of Liquorice Pizza, but he was decent in this one. Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer and Ben Wang all deserve credit for the more supporting roles. Mark Hamill seems to have small roles in everything these days, and I am all for it! Judy Greer was given a rather emotional couple of scenes, and I cannot believe I did not recoginise Roman Griffin Davis he’s all grown up!
