News: Sutherland Had ‘No Passion’ With Roberts

I think it seems as though it was best for both of them that they did not get married. If the passion is gone, then theres not really much you can do.

Kiefer Sutherland’s romance with ex-fiancee Julia Roberts broke down after their sex life vanished.

Roberts, who once branded the 24 actor “young and silly” for proposing to her, called off the couple’s wedding just days before they were due to exchange vows in 1991.

And Sutherland admits that although he felt a strong connection with the Pretty Woman star, their relationship collapsed when the passion burned out.

He tells Elle UK, “Well, at the time, I wanted to raise horses on a farm in Montana, and she was the number one actress on the planet. That didn’t create a specific rift but there was a gulf in what we actually wanted.

“There was a huge connection between us but… it was more like friends than the passionate relationship that she or I would have wanted. She saw that; I did not.”

News: Crawford Undergoes Musical Training For Footloose

I am still sad that Zac is no longer in it, but hopefully Chace will be very good.

Chace Crawford will undergo gruelling singing and dancing lessons before the cameras role on his remake of movie musical Footloose.

The Gossip Girl star has signed to take on the role made famous by Kevin Bacon in the 1984 original film, after Zac Efron was forced to pull out.

Crawford has limited musical experience, and director Kenny Ortega admits he’ll need coaching before he’s ready to take on the role.

Ortega – who is choreographing Michael Jackson’s comeback tour – tells Us Weekly, “He really sizzles. He has musicality. We need to work with him on music and dance. There are some big shoes to fill. But he has it in him.”

News: Penns Party Together After Scrapping Separation Bid

WOW this really is very on-off it doesnt seem that they can make their minds up. They must really love each other !!!

Sean Penn’s on-off marriage to Robin Wright Penn seems to be on again – the pair was spotted at a Memorial Day bash just days after the actor called off their legal separation.

The Oscar-winner initially filed papers for a “legal separation with minor children” in April, just days before the couple’s 13th wedding anniversary.

Penn reportedly dismissed the bid earlier this month after spotting his partner enjoying life as a single woman at the Cannes Film Festival.

And it seems the pair is giving the relationship another go – they turned up to a party at Hollywood producer Joel Silver’s house in Malibu, California on Monday, and spent the evening enjoying drinks with Tom Hanks and Robert Downey, Jr.

It’s not the first time the couple has split only to reunite months later – they started divorce proceedings in December 2007 only to officially end the separation four months later.

News: McKellen Celebrates 70Th In Style

Happy birthday Sir Ian !!! I think its just brilliant that the West End Show they went to see was La Cage Aux Folles. I went to see that in Feb and it was fantastic.

Veteran actor Sir Ian McKellen celebrated his 70th birthday in flamboyant style – by taking 25 of his friends to see a West End show.

The legendary actor reached the milestone age on Monday and to mark the occasion he treated a group of his pals to an evening out in London to watch comedy musical La Cage aux Folles.

And McKellen received an extra special surprise during the performance as dancers singled him out for a kiss when they ventured into the audience during one scene, leaving the X-Men star with a red lipstick mark on his forehead.

After the show, the La Cage aux Folles cast presented him with a cake at a private party in the theatre.

News: Ritchie ‘Working On Guys And Dolls’

I think this is really interesting !!!

Guy Ritchie is set to branch out from the world of gangster cinema – the filmmaker is reportedly in Hollywood to begin writing a script for a remake of Guys And Dolls.

The director, best known for his London-based crime films, is said to have roped in movie hardman Jason Statham to show off his vocal talents in a reworking of the classic musical, which originally starred Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, “Guy has been on the case with the idea of making a musical recently. He had been throwing ideas around with Jason Statham about writing their own musical.

“Guy has had a lot of meetings with top studio bosses about other projects but the Guys And Dolls idea really tickled him.”

But Ritchie could be sticking to a familiar formula when shooting begins – he is apparently considering basing the song-and-dance classic in his native Britain.

The insider adds: “He is torn between keeping the script true to the original in New York and taking it to familiar surroundings in London.”

News: 007 Craig To Make Broadway Debut With Help From Wolverine

OMG that would be heaven !!! I hope I can get tickets to go and see it 🙂

Action movie hunks Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig are bringing Hollywood glamour to Broadway – they are teaming up to hit the New York stage for a new play.

The 007 star will make his Broadway debut alongside seasoned theatre star Jackman in new drama A Steady Rain.

The play, written by Keith Huff and produced by James Bond’s Barbara Broccoli, follows two cops from Chicago, Illinois whose close friendship is pushed to its limits after becoming involved in a domestic dispute in a poor neighbourhood, reports the New York Post.

Craig performed small roles on the London stage before breaking into Hollywood, while X-Men star Jackman won a Tony Award in 2004 for his turn in Broadway musical The Boy From Oz.

A Steady Rain is due to open this autumn.

News: Douglas Attempted To Stop Son Acting

I think this is really nice of Kirk, to look out for Michael so much 🙂

Veteran star Kirk Douglas told a teenage Michael Douglas he’d never make it as an actor – because he didn’t want him to experience the “rejection” of Hollywood.

The legendary actor was shocked when Michael initially decided to try out drama as a youngster – because his son had always maintained he would study to become a lawyer.

And when Michael took on his first play, Douglas Sr. tried to make him reconsider law school by criticising his performance.

He writes on his official website, “He attended college in Santa Barbara with the intention of being a lawyer. I was very happy. I didn’t want him to deal with the rejection in my field. In his sophomore year he suddenly said to me, ‘Dad, I’m going to be in a play.’

“I was startled. He never showed any interest in being an actor and I was glad. But I went to see the play at the college. It was a Shakespeare play and he had a very small part. After the play he said, ‘Dad, how was I?’ I answered, ‘Michael, you were terrible.’ And I thought that would squash any desire he had to become an actor. Which just shows you how wrong I can be.”

Michael, now 64, has since become one of Hollywood’s most successful stars, landing his first Academy Award, as a producer, at the age of 31.

News: Pattinson Wants To Play Morrison

I think this would be interesting . . .

Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson is begging studio bosses to cast him in a biopic of his favourite musician – Irish singer Van Morrison.

Although no plans are on the table to take the Brown Eyed Girl hitmaker’s story to the big screen, Brit Pattinson is desperate to put his name on the list if studio bosses ever pick up the idea.

He tells Moviefone, “I’d love to play Van Morrison, but I doubt I would get the part.”

News: Farrell To Be Best Man For Gay Brother

Awww I think thats so nice !!!

Colin Farrell is preparing to walk his gay brother down the aisle when he marries later this year.

The actor will be best man when Eamon Farrell ties the knot with his partner Steven in a European ceremony.

And Eamon has blasted the British government for forcing him to travel abroad to marry.

Gay couples can make their relationships legal in the U.K. with same sex civil unions, but still cannot marry in the same way as a man and woman.

Eamon says, “We have to get married abroad. It’s absolutely terrible. We have to go somewhere legal, which narrows it down to about five countries.

“I want to be able to get married. The Government’s paper on civil unions is only for gay people. If you’re straight, you can’t have one. So that’s not fair either.

“If you want a civil union you should be able to do it, if I want to get married I should be able to do it.”
