News: Gibson Confirms He Is To Be A Dad

So this is official confirmation . . .

Mel Gibson confirmed his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is pregnant after he was put in the hot seat by Jay Leno on The Tonight Show.

The actor spoke candidly with the TV host during his guest appearance, fielding questions about the dissolution of his marriage and joking about dating a younger woman in an episode that will air in the U.S. on Monday.

Gibson took the opportunity to clear up reports about his relationship with estranged wife Robyn, who filed for divorce in April – blaming himself for the split.

He told Leno, “My wife and I, our marriage ended three years ago and we’ve been separated ever since then. These things happen. It’s unfortunate, it’s sad, but you know she is an admirable woman – we still got kids together. We’re friends…

“Look, when it’s all said and done, I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage myself. I’m to blame. If you’re inclined to judge, put it here.”

Leno then attempted to lighten the mood by asking about Gibson’s new younger lover, joking, “What, is she 17, 18?”

The Mad Max star said the Russian singer is nearer to 40, before quipping, “Now I am going to have two women mad at me!”

Gibson was then prodded about rumours Grigorieva is pregnant with the couple’s first child, to which Gibson confirmed, “This is true. We’re gonna have a child.”

Leno teased about his growing brood, “So that will make 29?”, with Gibson shooting back, “Well, actually eight. I guess I’m Octo-Mel.”

It was Gibson’s 21st TV interview on the programme, which is currently bidding farewell to outgoing host Leno by inviting favourite guests for special appearances this week (begs25May09).

News: Angels & Demons Draws The Crowd At Global Box Office

Not a suprise that it is a big hit !!!

Tom Hanks’ new movie Angels & Demons continues to rule the international box office chart after fending off competition from Ben Stiller’s Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian.

The religious thriller, director Ron Howard’s big screen adaptation of Dan Brown’s book of the same name, scooped $60.4 million (£40.26 million) outside of the U.S. to claim the number one position for its second consecutive week.

Stiller’s sequel has proven to be the most popular choice Stateside, taking $53.5 million (£35.7 million) over the Memorial Day weekend (22-24May09), but its pull wasn’t as strong overseas and it debuted in second place with $50.1 million (£33.4 million) at the global box office.

Star Trek came in a distant third place with $11.5 million (£7.6 million), while X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Hannah Montana rounded out the top five with $7 million (£4.67 million) and $3.1 million (£2 million) respectively.

News: Zeta-Jones Records Seven-minute TV Ad

Wow go Catherine . . . if only she would film more movies !!!

Hollywood actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is branching out into commercials – she filmed a hair-raising motorcycle chase for a seven-minute shampoo advert.

The Mask of Zorro star plays the part of a lab technician who steals a “youth-enhancing elixir” in the commercial for Lux shampoo, before zooming away with a handsome mystery man.

She is later seen showing off her newly washed hair at a party, before a confrontation with security guards over the stolen suds.

The subtitled ad, produced by Unilever, will be screened in cinemas across Japan and China and is already available to view online.

Unilever executive Enzo Devoto says, “By getting into the world of movies, rather than just having movie stars in our ads, which our competitors do too, we can draw consumers closer to the brand.

“When you’re watching a movie and on comes an advertisement trying to hard-sell a product, it’s pretty much interrupting your entertainment. Our project is completely different.”

News: Gilliam: ‘Ledger Inspired Me To Finish Fantasy Film’

I think thats really inspiring that Heath’s death inspired this movie to be completed.

Terry Gilliam has credited Heath Ledger with saving The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, insisting the actor’s untimely death pushed him to finish the fantasy film.

Ledger died of an accidental prescription drug overdose in January of 2008 – halfway through shooting the movie.

Director Gilliam was devastated by the tragic news and nearly shut down the set – but his memories of the late actor kept him from abandoning the project.

Instead, Gilliam revised the original script, recruiting actors Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell to fill in Ledger’s last role.

He says, “The closing credit says ‘By Heath and Friends’ because the film changed with his death. He forced me to make changes and we wouldn’t have finished it if it wasn’t for Heath…

“Fortunately, I was surrounded by really good people who insisted that… we had to go out and find a way of finishing the film for Heath.”

And the filmmaker insists Hollywood lost an enormous talent in Ledger, who inspired the entire cast and crew on set.

He adds, “Heath was enjoying himself so much and he was ad-libbing a lot, which I don’t normally allow… but Heath was just brilliant at it and he got everybody else going.

“Everybody was just energised by Heath. He was extraordinary. He was almost exhausting because he had so much energy.”

News: Night At The Museum Crumbles Competition At U.S. Box Office

I think everyone could have predicted this coming. Night At the Museum when it came out on Boxing Day a few years ago now was a massive hit, and releasing this pre-summer and in a usual slow period was good.

Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais and Ben Stiller are laughing their way to the top of the U.S. box office – their new film Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian has toppled the competition in its opening weekend (22-24May09).

The comedians co-star with Amy Adams, Owen Wilson and Hank Azaria in the film, which took in $53.5 million (£35.7 million) over the Memorial Day weekend.

The win was a shock for movie reviewers, who insisted Terminator Salvation – the fourth movie in the sci-fi franchise – was poised to take the top spot after scooping more than $13 million (£8.7 million) on its first day of release. But the film came in at second with $43 million (£28.7 million) in earnings.

The new Star Trek movie followed at third, with nearly $22 million (£14.7 million) in earnings and now boasting a three-week total of $183.6 million (£122.4 million).

Rounding out the top five are Tom Hanks’ Angels & Demons and new comedy spoof Dance Flick, which took in $21.4 million (£14.3 million) and $11.1 million (£7.4 million) respectively.

News: Shields: ‘I Wish I’d Lost My Virginity Sooner’

I think thats very honest of her, but possibly not a good thing for young girls to read about? 22 is quite an older age.

Brooke Shields regrets losing her virginity at the age of 22 – insisting she waited too long to have sex for the first time.

The actress refrained from getting intimate with a man until she was in her early twenties because she wasn’t confident about her looks.

And, if she could do it all again, Shields is adamant she would experiment sexually at a much younger age.

She tells Health magazine, “(I regret) not learning to love the way I looked earlier. I think I would have had sex a lot earlier.

“I would have lost my virginity earlier than I did, at 22, (because) I would have been much more in touch with myself. To me, that’s a health regret.”
