Filming locations from The Crown you can actually visit

As ‘Set-Jetting’ Looks Set to Save Britain’s Finest Homes

Fans of The Crown can take a road trip around some of the most recognisable and unusual UK filming locations.

Quotezone.co.uk have researched eight hotspots from around the country which fans can visit for themselves, including sites from the upcoming season six.

Wilton House in Sailsbury was used as a stand-in for interior shots of Buckingham Palace, while Winchester Cathedral featured as St. Paul’s Cathedral, hosting the royal wedding of Diana and Charles.

Spots from the upcoming season six have also been featured – including St. Andrews University and York Minster.

With the new season launching on 16th November, fans of the hit show may be surprised to see that many of the filming locations are outside of London, and the grand stately homes can be visited throughout the year.

Platinum Jubilee: Queen and Paddington!

The Platinum Jubilee for Queen Elizabeth II took place over an incredible four days, and gave us an extra bank holiday for the occasion! One of the biggest highlights of this weekend has to be the Queen appearing with Paddington Bear to kick off the concert on Saturday night with the band Queen opening with We Will Rock You.

I absolutely love the Queen and Royal Family and seeing her go for it with Paddington Bear really was such a joy to behold, having appeared with Daniel Craig’s James Bond back in 2012 really does highlight just how much more they have gotten with the popular culture and quite happy to be part of it all in a positive manner.

God Save the Queen!

The Crown – Imelda Staunton is Queen Elizabeth II

I knew this was going to be a truly incredible bit of casting and now that the first image has been released it more than confirms it!

RIP Prince Philip

At dinnertime today Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Philip had passed away at the age of 99. I felt I needed to post a tribute to the man who was married to the Queen for over 75 years which is just incredible. My thoughts go out to our beloved Queen and the rest of the Royal Family at this very sad and difficult time.

Musical Moments – We’ll Meet Again – Vera Lynn

We’ll Meet Again is a song that was first around in World War II and was sung to the troops by Vera Lynn before they left England to fight. The lyrics are truly poignant and powerful, last night The Queen addressed the nation and finished by saying we will meet again and other references to the war were within the speech. So since then I have been thinking about this song especially considering it reminds me of my Nanna who was evacuated during WWII so much so we had it as the final song at her funeral.

The second season of The Crown offers ten more episodes into the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and the difficult situations she is placed in, especially when unsure of how to improve her marriage behind the scenes and dealing with everything else motherhood and the crown brings.

The Crown – Season 3 – Release Date

Netflix totally won with this announcement for when The Crown season 3 will be available to watch. It’s 17th November just incase you didn’t see it!

Having Olivia Colman just look at the camera looking totally incredible as she takes over from Claire Foy in the title role of Queen Elizabeth II. I am sure we will get plenty more teaser moments over the next few months in the build up to season 3. Easily one of the most successful programmes Netflix have managed to put together.

Are you looking forward to Season 3 or have you never actually watched any of The Crown?

Dame Julie Walters

Julie Walters is a much loved British actress and this week she was awarded with the highest honour and became a Dame, presented with the award by the Queen. She was then serenaded in the best way possible by the cast on set of Mamma Mia 2 . . . Because there is nothing like a dame!
