Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) Review

We pick up with a forgotten Peter Parker who lives alone and doesn’t have his own life anymore, just living as Spider-Man, but the pressures of this will be tested especially when a new very powerful enemy emerges.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Peter has well and truly given over his life to being just Spider-Man, with his best friends having no idea who he is anymore and the death of his beloved Aunt Mae. The opening scene just showing how isolated he had become was certainly setting us up for how much of an emotional journey this whole film was going to be.

We get Spider-Man back in New York City and showing how much he must do to defend it and help keep the crime rates low, the years passing by and this confirmed by watching Ned and MJ on videos from social media to help demonstrate it was a good method to use. However, everything would change when the enemy facing Spider-Man had the ability to jump and use bodies, taking control of that person.

This pushes everything to that next level and the way that Peter had still been protecting MJ was going to be used within all of this and totally against him. He must put himself on the line as his DNA is taking some serious and dangerous turns, this is something I felt was done in such a fantastic way and truly gave the film a much darker edge than we have been used to with this strand of the Spider-Man film series embedded deep in the Marvel Universe.

I have to admit that I really was not expecting that level of deepness and a particular scene towards the end of the film really got to me, obviously won’t spoil any details but if you have already seen the film I am sure you will fully understand which part I mean. There’s so many other aspects to the story that will have you on the edge of your seat and really setting everything up towards Doomsday later this year.

It really is worthwhile and I think Tom Holland has really grown so much with the character over the years. Have to admit that both Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal were total scenestealers though! Sadie Sink was also a very good addition to the cast. I also enjoyed Liza Colon-Zayas too.
