500 Miles (2026) Review

Finn and Charlie two brother decide that they must runaway from home to be reunited with their Grandfather who lives in Ireland.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Finn overheard his parents arguing and that they were going to split him up from his younger brother Charlie, he decides that the only option is to get to Ireland and see their grandfather who they had been estranged from for quite a while. One of the very good aspects of the film was the flashbacks to eventually finding out why that was the case, and quite frankly I did not see that final act twist coming at all and it hit very hard!

We get to see Finn being the best possible big brother to Charlie, who was a lot ot handle at times. He was a premature baby and since that moment Finn took it amongst himself to always protect his younger brother. The same with the rest of the family, who loved the holidays to Ireland and in particular for Charlie to see the famous dolphin.

This film is a heartwarming and heartbreaking journey of discovery and understanding of human emotions, it pushes the limits to how much people can take and feel and does it in a rather fantastic manner. It has a truly important message at its core and that was something that I really enjoyed a lot.

Roman Griffin Davis and Dexter Sol Ansell worked so effortlessly together and were fully believable as siblings. They both put in good performances capturing different emotions and some comedy moments to go along with it. Bill Nighy was naturally the main reason I made an effort to head to an independent cinema to see this film, and he never disappoints me at all.

I would highly recommend this film, it was on a rather limted release in the UK but more than worth that trup to the independent cinemas that you may have nearby!
