Gil Renard is a huge fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball team and his obession with his favourite player Bobby Rayburn is about to take some seriously bad turns!

Nothing has been going right for Gil and his irrational behaviour which borderlines on abusive will see him with a restraining order from his ex-wife following neglect of their son and then losing his job after insulting a potential customer. His rampage would then see him placing all of his emotion towards Bobby Rayburn and the baseball team.
Some superstitions about Rayburn not having the number 11 and another player Juan Primo who was wearing that becomes a talking point. Gil is about to do something that is really over the edge and quite frankly I was rather shocked when the film went in that direction.
I think this does highlight just how crazy and obsessive sports fans can be (naturally with that added edge) and that passion that they have towards their team and players. Thinking about how this from the 90s and how the changes now have horrible behaviour across social media which is a very different type of fandom.
Nothing was groundbreaking about this film, it had some decent performances and I’d like to count it as the mental De Niro era in terms of the type of character! I will also admit that I hadn’t actually heard of it before stumbling across it on a streaming service. Wesley Snipes, Ellen Barkin, John Leguizamo and Benicio Del Toro making up a rather strong cast!
