Set in the 1930s and we see a group fo rich people getting together for the weekend and we see the tension between them and the servants who live downstairs. When a murder occurs we each person in a different light.

Gosford Park was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar in 2002, so this film has been on my watchlist for many years now and given that I watched it after Downton Abbey probably impacted how I felt about it. Although it is very easy to see what Julian Fellowes was doing with his writing for this film and how this led into Downton Abbey.
We are given a lot of characters to follow during the course of the film and for me that was a little too much. As we did not really get the chance to know that much about them. I also felt that the murder part of the plot should have been a lot sooner as it then was very rushed from that moment on. This was a shame though as a longer investigation could have made it slightly more interesting.
An indication of the differences between the upper class and that lower working class. It takes on many different issues as well which will occur, not least that of a supposed gentleman having many illegitimate children and forcing the women to let them go for adoption. Plenty of poor relationships, attempts at understanding the different classes, sexauality and more.
The cast is absolutely stacked with so much talent that in each and every scene you will see an amazing actor, and I guess we can say that this was a little preview of what Maggie Smith would go on to bring to Downton.
