The curse is still going strong on the Owens women, a multi generational family of witches. Attempting to break the spell and allowing the youngest to love and be loved without the fear of death.

Did we really need a sequel to Practical Magic? No. Did I enjoy the fact that we had this second instalment? Of course, the first is somewhat of a guilty pleasure of mine and I was actually suprised that not many people I know had even seen the first.
Given her trauma with her powers Sally Owens had repressed her magic and not told her two daughters Antonia and Kylie that they were indeed witches, as well as the curse that had been put on all the women within their family. This seemed to be going alright, until Kylie fell in love with Gideon and he was instantly in an accident.
From this Kylie decides that she will stop the curse to save Gideon and flies straight to England, but is she safe from the dark magic that seems to be controlling her decisions. Obviously her mother and Aunt Gillian were going to be on the case of following her. The sisters had been fighting for quite a lot of years and in particular over keeping teh family secret from the girls.
We are given some lovely moments with Jet and Franny which shows some great links to the first film. It certainly doesn’t hold back for making those scenes very emotional and playing a huge part within the storyline. Actually it is probably the best part of the story and a good thing that they were able to be included in it.
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman being in a film together again is something we can just enjoy isn’t it? I certainly think so, we probably don’t get enough films that we just enjoy and don’t really expect loads from in return. Joey King has a bigger role than Maisie Williams and they are both good choices for the roles.
Looking to see this one at some point, as I did love the first one!
