Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) Review

Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter has her life threatened, which sees him reunite with John Taggart and Billy Rosewood. Managing to cause mayhem again but still manages to uncover a conspiracy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jane Saunders is now a lawyer and involved in a high profile case which is meaning that her life is now in danger due to her choices of being involved. She had been working with Billy Rosewood a longtime friend of her estranged father. Billy managed to contact Axel and this prompts him to travel back to Beverly Hills, and obviously it was going to be difficult.

Throwing in the strained relationship between Axel and Jade is an attempt to create tension, and really the way he goes on gets a little bit annoying very quickly but it is predictable what will happen with that. Although I guess the same can be said for the whole film, but it does manage to have an enjoyable factor in it despite that.

I am not someone who has seen all of the Beverly Hills Cop films, actually I only caught up with the first one a couple of years ago. It is evident though that Eddie Murphy is just having so much fun back in the role of Axel Foley. Personally for me though Jospeh Gordon-Levitt was the main reason I decided to watch it. Although you cannot really go wrong with Kevin Bacon in a slight bad guy role!

  1. I thought it was okay. The kind of film that I’d rate as ‘mostly harmless.’ Wasted Kevin Bacon though, but I suppose they reined him in to avoid him stealing the film from Eddie Murphy. You don’t steal the limelight from Eddie Murphy in a Beverly Hills Cop movie…

      1. The first film is, as one might expect, the best of the bunch, the second is a typical high-octane 1980’s Tony Scott romp that has its moments, particularly if you like that 1980’s MTV-video style, and the third one should be avoided at all costs (there’s even an in-joke in this new film that reflects how bad it was).
