Disclosure Day (2026) Review

The world is about to find out that a big secret was kept from them, we are not alone and have never been alone.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of the best things about Disclosure Day was how the promotion for the film didn’t really give anything away, although I guess we just knew it was about aliens so what else did it really need to do? I feel as though that worked very well for actually then heading to the cinema to see the film.

Anyway.

Plot wise it wasn’t the most elaborate by any means and it was rather slow burning at times, but that deliberate pacing helped to create the tension and the longing to find out the answers to the myriad questions it was building for the audience. As the story unfolded gradually, viewers were drawn into the complex web of character relationships and motivations, making each revelation feel all the more significant. The slow burn allowed for deeper emotional engagement, inviting the audience to ponder and speculate on the mysteries presented, thereby enhancing their overall investment in the narrative. Ultimately, this approach not only maintained interest but also added layers of depth and nuance that might have been missing in a faster-paced plot.

We are given two main characters to follow in Margaret Fairchild and Dr Daniel Kellner, something is pulling them towards each other. All starting on that one day, we have Noah Scanlon trying to keep everything hidden. Kellner knows too much and has seen a lot of the videos and decided that he needs to get them out to the public.

That slow build up to finding out about the videos to eventually seeing some of the clips as a viewer gives the impression that we are also part of the people and how they see them. I thought it was an interesting way to do an alien style film as we have had so many over the years, but this felt fresh at times.

The leading roles with Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor were engaging enough and I felt as though I cared about each of them. Colin Firth being a bad guy is quite tough to come to terms with isn’t it! Colman Domingo continued his scene-stealing moments and Wyatt Russell added some comedy moments.
